Wishing on a Star

Hello All,

I am playing along with a couple of challenges today; Creative with Stamps and City Crafter Challenge. Here is my card for today, enjoy.

Challenges Entered:
Creative with Stamps: Challenge #7- Sentiment
City Crafter Challenge: Week 336- I See a Star

Today is Halloween- which for some means you turn off EVERY light in your house and hide for about 4 hours and hope no one comes to your door asking for candy. But for some, Halloween is a holiday full of ghouls, ghosts, and the unseen. This is exactly what we encountered seeing entire yards converted to graveyards; giant spider lurking in the trees; and skeletons of dogs, cats, and humans (all fake of course). But the yard down the road from our house took the cake. Their yard was equipped with fog machines, fake hands coming out of the ground and an antique coffin! Yes, an actual coffin complete with a smiling skeleton! What a night to remember and they plan to have an even bigger display next year... We shall see...

I don't mean to post and run but I have to get to bed. We had a long night of trick-or-treating and my head is pounding.  I hope you enjoyed your stay at my little kilobyte of the internet. We will see you soon! So until then take care and happy stamping!!

All the best,
Shawna

Merry Rocking Horse

Hello Friends,

For today I have an inspiration card using your MHKDesigns digital stamps. Here is my card for today, enjoy.

A shaker card seemed to add an extra Christmas
touch to our adorable rocking horse.
Lightly sponged the edges gray to create a more subtle feel to the card.

MHKDesigns vintage images work so well with each other.
I invite you to check out her Etsy store and see for yourself
the versatility of stamp sets and variety of digital papers we have to offer

I used three sets from MHKDesigns stamp sets. These stamps are so versatile
and fun to play with. You can resize and flip the image which is something that is
nearly impossible to get this resolution when flipping an image with rubber/polymer stamps.
Digital stamps- no problem!

Above Left: Detail showing the luster and shininess of the sequins. Right: Another detail showing the beautiful iridescent sparkle and shine.

I will encourage you to stop by the MHKDesigns blog to see more inventive ideas from our design team, and then play along with our monthly challenge, or just enjoy a bit of eye candy.

There is a lot more to discover at MHKDesigns Etsy Shop! Stop on over and see what we have to offer. It is certain to spark the imagination. So, thank you for stopping by and hope to see you soon. Take care and happy crafting.

All the best,

Too Dotty?

Hello Readers,

Today is a new challenge at The Male Room. And it couldn't have come at a better time. More about that later- here is my card for today, enjoy!

This card is going right to my son after his party.
I am going to sneak away for a bit and add a sweet message of encouragement.
He is doing great and wanted him to know I am proud of him.

Challenge #47

_________________________________________________

A very bold sentiment that go along perfectly
with the bold black circles.
I traced some of my circle dies in pencil then started filling in the circles with dots.
There is no definitive line for the dotty circles it is our mind putting the pieces together.

My son's 'harvest' party is tomorrow afternoon. I was the one who volunteered to head up the craft station ideas. He is in third grade and wanted his class to look outside themselves for awhile and thank someone who they admire. So naturally I decided the craft must be to make a thank you card for anyone they choose. This is my 'example' card for them. And it just so happens to double as my inspiration card for The Male Room. I wanted to keep it easy enough for them to relate to the project. I may have gone a bit overboard with the dots but I love it.. I think the kids will understand that all you need are markers, paper, and a bit of imagination to create an amazing appreciation card. I will try to remember to take pics of their cards and post them. So excited to see what they come with.

Well that should do it for me! I do invite you to join our challenge at The Male Room in these coming weeks. I am looking forward to seeing what you create. Also, thank you so much for stopping by my little corner of the internet. I do appreciate every visit and if you aren't already a follower, I invite to join me in my adventures at TheGrandStampede. So until next time, take care and happy crafting.

All the best,
Shawna

Spell on You

Hello Readers,

For today I am writing on behalf of (PIN)spirational to let y'all know we have a new challenge for the next two weeks. Before I show you the inspiration pin for this challenge I want to share my card for today, enjoy.

I thought there is nothing more spellbinding then being split in half!!
I love this vintage tree! Its old crooked branches are just perfect for Halloween.
The trunk of the tree acts as a connector for the two halves of our witch.

The inspiration pin is full of autumn
oranges, browns, and yellows which is what inspired me to
use these rich warm colors.
For the sentiment I decided to do a little figure ground reversal on the word
'spell'. If I left it maroon you wouldn't be able to see it clearly
and the point of the card would be lost.
Challenges Entered:
Just Us Girls: Photo Week #366
Addicted to Stamps and More: Week 216- Anything Goes
Craft Stamper- Take it, Make it Challenge: Autumn Creations
  Take It, Make It Challenge
As I was making this card it reminded me of witches and their brooms. That thought brought me to a children's book titled 'The Widow's Broom' by Chris Van Allsburg. If you haven't picked up this delightful read then I suggest you do. A fabulous story about an old broom that has lost its magic. The witch deserts her broom in a veggie patch and there, an old widow finds it. This book is full of adventure, suspense, and lots of humor. It is a fun read for all ages, and fun for the kiddos to hear. And his illustrations are absolutely amazing. Go pick it up at your local library for Halloween. It is sure to delight.

Well that should do it for me. I hope you have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by my little byte of the internet. I do hope you will join us at PINspirational. It should be fun! Until then, take care, and happy crafting.

All the best,
Shawna

Oh Frap!

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with CAS-ology, Less is More, and Addicted to CAS. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The new CutPlorations die is so funny I just had to get it. I really like the die cut
matching perfectly with woodgrain under the vellum.
I love the composition of this card! The sentiment is so
suited for any situation where you have to apologize.
I know I have some layering on this card but I do think it
is CAS because of the monochromatic color palette and the lightness
of the vellum material.
Challenges Entered:

   "Less is More"

My almost nine year old son tasted coffee for the first time the other day. He didn't really like dads coffee (which he likes black) but moms tea (1tsp Sugar in the Raw, 2% milk, and some fiber for froth) well he wanted more. I can see why because coffee alone can be quite bitter versus tea. I told my son maybe you will like it later in life, like college. He looks up at me and responds 'Yeah right Mom!'. Oh, Green Grasshopper so much to learn, but I have a funny feeling I'm right!

You aren't done with me yet! I have one more card to post that I think you will like. So until then take care and happy stamping..

All the best,
Shawna

Wobbly Witch

Hello All,

UGH!! Monday is here but cheer up because Make My Monday has a new challenge for you! Before we get to the challenge here is my card for today, enjoy!

The purple background was done digitally. I inserted the sentiment with stars (source unknown) on top of the deep purple gradient sky. Printed out the background and set it aside for a bit later.

Challenge #33

After printing the background and sentiment out, I sponged around where the moon should be using white pigment ink. I stamped the moon (from Altenew) on a separate sheet of cardstock, die cut, and adhered to the center of the white sponged background. Giving the effect of glow.
Now for the cool part! Our Halloween creature is popped off the card and is made to move. I made my own action wobbler; it added a bit fun and whimsy to the design.

Check out the clip below and watch it move.

Mark Twain, one of our most influential literary authors, and pretty bright I must say. He is quoted saying 'Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.'.  Words from a man who knows there seems to be something, no matter how small, that is dark and telling about us. I guess that is why this quote is so creepy. Creepy in the fact that we never really know who anybody is, really. {shutter}

Well on that bright note, it is time for me to go. I do hope you enjoyed your stay and thank you so much for stopping in. I would encourage you to stop on over to Make My Monday and have a go at our challenge. It is a fabulous prompt and am sure it will spur some fantastic cards! So until then, take care and happy stamping, y'all!!

All the best,
Shawna
