Thankful Squirrel

Hello again friends,

Today I am going to playing along with A Day for Daisies and Sunday Stamps. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The squirrel was colored using Mexpy alcohol markers. I wanted to add some visual texture to our little squirrel by layering on and then taking off color to get a furry texture.

Below: There is a lot of textural elements to this card. Examples are the bronze luster on the card stock, distressed edging, and of course the burlap- and amazingly it is not very bulky.

Detail showing our furry little friend.
I really like the color of the flowers and how
it compliments the sentiment so nicely.
Yet it doesn't take away from the overall design. In fact, I believe it enhances it.

A Day for Daisies: Challenge #156- add burlap and/or kraft
Sunday Stamps: SSC140- Sketch Time

Oh squirrels! The bane of my dog's existence. Whenever he sees a squirrel he bolts and takes me or whoever is on the other end of the leash with him. No matter how hard I try to train this sixty pound furball it always end the same way. I brace myself steadfast to the sidewalk while he jumps and barks at the dangerous creature climbing up the tree. When he is satisfied, he calms down and we continue on our way. After some choice words I say - 'Good dog! Ridding the world of all those evil squirrels. What would I do without you?'. Really, I don't know what I would without him. So much a part of our family, our Crown. 😍

Well thank you so much for dropping in to spend time with me. I really enjoyed this project and I hope you did too. So until next time, take care, and happy stamping everyone!!

All the best,
Shawna

Christmas Candles

Hello Friends,

For today I have an inspiration card using your MHKDesigns digital stamps and papers. Here is my card for today, enjoy.

I don't usually make tall cards but this design seemed to have
dictated the shape. Monochromatic'ish color palette allows it to be too busy.

I really to enjoy the transparent acrylic at the top of the card.

without it overwhelming the card.

I made this image extra large so you can see all the details and sparkle.

I will encourage you to stop by the MHKDesigns blog to see more inventive ideas from our design team, and then play along with our monthly challenge, or just enjoy a bit of eye candy.

JOY

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with along with Fusion Card Challenge. Their sketch blended with the photo inspiration was so interesting that I had to give it a try. Here is my card for today, enjoy!
The photo had some fantastic horizontal elements that inspired me to use them
as a design element.

Kept it simple and bold with lots of visual texture.
There is literal texture as well. I decided not to adhere the wreath or its elements
completely to the card allowing it to fray out.

Below: Side-by-side photos showing all the luster and texture this card has to offer.
I thought the simple jewel placed on the bow was a good anchor for the sentiment.

White with Stripes

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Hand Stamped Sentiments. Their sketch was so interesting that I had to give it a try. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Using vellum allows some of the color to show through. It seemed a bit too transparent
so I flipped it over and inked on some white and wiped some of it off.
It turned out very well.

The ombre background really surprised me. I shifted the strips from my die cut stencil
and came up with this! Look closely and you see the border is only one line. The second line fills in the center to create a very unique background.
Detail showing the embossed vellum and inlaid ornament. It is hard to see but the ornament sparkles while the inlay is white CS.

CAS Ornaments

Hello Friends!

For today I will be playing along with Merry Monday, CAS on Sunday and CAS Colours and Sketches. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

A beautiful die cut from Memory Box was found at my local craft outlet store.
I found it suited for the sketch and color challenges.

A simple sentiment is what keeps this card CAS. I really like the white-on-white
of the die cut and just a pinch of color makes this card pop!

Below: You will find details of the large ornament sparkling in the light.
The inlay technique looks fantastic.

I promise the dark sentiment, dots, and ornament are dark blue. This is a hard color to capture on my phone.

Challenges Entered:
Merry Monday: Challenge #223- Colour Challenge
CAS Colours & Sketches: Challenge #201- sketch
CAS on Sunday: Challenge #97- Christmas

I am very tired so I am going to turn in.. Thank  you so much for joining me! We will see you soon. Until then take care and happy stamping.

Cityscape

Hello Everyone,

Today marks another challenge at The Male Room! But before I get to the challenge here is my card for today, enjoy!

The city scene was created using a stencil, white multi-media ink, and black paper.
Placed the stencil on the black paper, then inked it up with white ink. Lastly, I added ink colors over the white ink.

Challenge for the next two weeks:

TMR#49

I colored the windows with the stencil in place.
Creating a random set of lit and unlit windows.
I then masked the buildings and started on my sky.
The style of the sentiment seems to be well suited for this card!
To me, it looks like an autograph, which is why I stamped the sentiment at an angle.
Well that should do it for me! I do invite you to join our challenge at The Male Room in these coming weeks. I am looking forward to seeing what you create. Also, thank you so much for stopping by my little corner of the internet. I do appreciate every visit and if you aren't already a follower, I invite to join me in my adventures at TheGrandStampede. So until next time, take care and happy crafting.

All the best,
