Season's Greetings

Hello Everyone,

It has been awhile since my last post. Things have been busy and as most of you know, the magic of the Holidays had to happen somehow... But I'm back, and today I have an inspiration card using your MHKDesigns digital stamps and papers. Here is my card for today, enjoy.

Winter seems to be a gray and dank season.
However, I believe during this time is when color has the opportunity to pop!
This is what I tried to illistrate with this card.

MHKDesigns vintage images work so well with each other.
I invite you to check out her Etsy store and see for yourself
the versatility of stamp sets and variety of digital papers we have to offer

I printed out two copies of the poinsettia. I colored one poinsettia, cut it out, then placed it on the base poinsettia. That is how its leaves are matching gray.

Left/Below: Pops of red seem to pop off the page. Leading your eye all around the card.
Right/Bottom: Of winter does have some sparkle. I choose to depict it by punching out glittery some snowflakes.

I encourage you to stop by the MHKDesigns blog to see more inventive ideas from our design team, and then play along with our monthly challenge, or just enjoy a bit of eye candy.

There is a lot more to discover at MHKDesigns Etsy Shop! Stop on over and see what we have to offer. It is certain to spark the imagination. So, thank you for stopping by and hope to see you soon. Take care and happy crafting.

All the best,

Three Birds

Hello All,

{PIN}spirational is having their last challenge of the year!! But before I get to the challenge, I would like to share my card for today, enjoy!

Our three bird ornaments are using all the same colors.
I cross-polluniated the same color to different parts of the bird
creating a cohesive design.

And now for our challenge:
Challenge #181

The background flourish was done by layering a die-cut sheet over
a lightly sponged base creating a subtle ombre effect.
Our birds were printed out in three different sizes.
Along with the cross-pollination of color, and by staggering the birds,

it creates an interesting scene without looking too cluttered.

White on White Mistletoe

Hello All,

I hope this post finds you well and ready for the coming weeks of the New Year! For today I am playing with Come and Get It Challenge and Creative with Stamps. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The monochromatic white-on-white color scheme
seems to make this card elegant and timeless.
Lots of festive sparkle and shine topped off
with a white paper and vellum bow.
Rhinestones are sprinkled around and within the mistletoe.

Below: Detail view of the sparkly mistletoe and vellum bow. The view above/left shows the card in light and
below/right shows the card not in light, casting all sorts of beautiful shadows.

Challenges Entered:
Come and Get It Challenge: Christmas
Creative with Stamps: Challenge #9- Use a Christmas Stamp

Wrapping is the bane of my existence this time of year. Usually, I bare down on Christmas Eve and just get it done... While wrestling with the paper, it gets me a bit ornery knowing I am doing all this fussy work only to have it be ripped open in a few short hours... So, here I am once again with Christmas breathing down my neck and have yet to wrap one single gift...Tis' the season to procrastinate, I guess!! I think the movie A Christmas Story 24-hour marathon on TBS has my name written all over it, again.

So cheery tonight... Yikes! Anyway, I want to thank you for stopping by my corner of the internet. I hope to see you soon in Blogland. Until then take care and happy stamping!

Reindeer Games

Hello Friends,

For today I will be playing along with Fusion Card Challenge. So without further ado here is my card for today, enjoy!

I wish you could feel this card because the snowflakes are velvety.
I think textures was the name of the game for this challenge so I tried to pick
elements that went with that theme.

Again lots of texture. The reindeer was cut by partial die-cutting then fussy cutting its trail.
The sentiment seems to glide with the reindeer
What inspired me about the photo was its greenery.
I tried to illustrate that using PP with pine, wood then distressing the edges.

Life, like the weather, is changing here at my household. My son just turned 9 and my daughter is soon to be eleven. I have a ton of jobs, ideas, and oh yeah, Christmas!  Then I turn and look back and think change is good. Like the weather, as in life, I feel change allows for renewal, reflection, and a bit of nerv-citment! What is nerv-citment? Well, it is excitement along with nervousness that life brings you in times of change.

Last Sunday evening after an entire day of activity, my husband asked if I wanted a glass of wine to end the busy day. I accepted and assumed a position under a blanket on the couch with my wine... So comfy... Too comfy apparently, because next thing I knew I heard a smash... You can only imagine the mess of red wine laced with bits of glass all over the floor! Our wool area rug and bare wood floors littered with debris. Nothing some towels can't soak up and a bit of Oxi-clean got that stain right out!! The most wonderful time of year? I say yes... Blessed to have so much to do...

Thank you for stopping by today. I know it has been awhile since I wrote a personal narrative but today I had a bit more time to write it up! So thank you all for stopping by my corner of the internet and I hope to see you soon in Blogland.

All the best,
Shawna

Above: I really like the monochromatic color scheme for this card. The funky elements like the glasses and the typeset lettering really set the tone for this design.

Bottom: The paper in the typewriter is actually popping off the card. Just a bit of editing for the sentiment and now it gives the impression that it was actually typed. The silver typeset letters work so well with this design. And the message has complimented the sentiment nicely.

Ombre Snowflake

Hello Fellow Crafters,

For today I will be playing along with The Paper Players. A fantastic challenge for this time of year. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The background was a template for another card.
I used it as a stencil and thought it was too pretty to throw away.
I thought it would be perfect for this card.

The snowflake is a cut out from a piece of DP.
I just couldn't resist using it for this design.

Above: This color combination is so pretty... The shiny snowflake and sentiment look
so nice against the dark blue background and ombre stripes.

Below: Two pictures of the same card showing its shiny elements in the light and one out of the light. Look at the ombre background in shadow... Wow!!

Well, that should do it for me. I do hope you enjoyed your visit and the card for today. See you soon for another installment from TheGrandStampede. So, until next time take care and happy stamping, y'all.

All the best,
Shawna
