Pleasantville

Good day to everyone,

Today starts a new challenge at The Male Room. This one was... well... challenging. Here is my card for today, enjoy!
The umbrellas were stamped on black cardstock, embossed using white powder, and then colored with PrismaColor pencils.

Okay I know it says 'television' but I thought of the movies instead. I kept going back to this movie and couldn't shake it. The movie I am referring to is called 'Pleasantville'.

Here is the movie trailer for
'Pleasantville'

The movie is based on a 1950's sitcom when two siblings are brought into the show using the remote control. The addition of these two sparks a movement of curiosity, drama, and self-awareness throughout the town. It then slowly but surely the town and its residents turn into color.

A bit of color surrounded by grays, black, and white.
Like the movie, things slowly start to change to color.
The sentiment is very fitting for this card.
The residents get curious and start
to wonder about the world and their dreams for the future.
This starts the color chain reaction.
Also, it makes a fantastic encouragement card.
Well, that should do it for me. If you haven't already done so, hop on over to The Male Room to see other inspirational cards by our talented design team. It is surely going to spark some ideas and then join our challenge. Looking forward to seeing you!! Until then, take care and happy stamping!

Feeling Blue? Thinking of you!

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to TheGrandStampede! Today I am going to show you some inspiration for your MHKDesigns digital stamps. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The inspiration comes from our new release set:
Framed Favorites

The framed panisies are angled for a more contempary design.
The patterned paper comes from MHKDesign Digital Paper Pack called:
Worn & Weathered

I love this paper pack!
It has become a go-to for my digital designs.

The flowers were colored manually with Copic Markers (Christmas Gift!)
Thought this project would be a perfect place to break them in.
Embellishments were kept to a minimum with 3 enamel dots.
The sentiment looks fantastic against the white space.
I encourage you to stop by the MHKDesigns blog to see more inventive ideas from our design team, and then play along with our monthly challenge, or just enjoy a bit of eye candy.

There is a lot more to discover at MHKDesigns Etsy Shop! Stop on over and see what we have to offer. It is certain to spark the imagination. So, thank you for stopping by and hope to see you soon. Take care and happy crafting.

Tea Time

Hello All,

For today I am going to be playing along with City Crafter Challenges and Color Throwdown. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Warm, comforting tea seems appropriate right now. MI has been experiencing the biggest cold snap and there is nothing better than to warm up with some tea and friends.
The 'steam' comes from two stamp sets, one from Stampendous and the other from SU. I added the detail of dots and lines for a bit more interest.

This photo shows the 'tea bag' sentiment that
is an extension of the teacup sentiment.
I heard a tip online, I think from Kristina Werner, to outline the object you want to fussy cut. Cut along the lines and you have an almost perfect 'die-cut' image. In this case, I think it worked very well.

Amazing Peacock

Hello All,

For today I am throwing my hat into The Paper Players and CAS(E) this Sketch challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Peacocks are my absolute favorite creature. Their color in particular always has inspired me. The Paper Players gave me an excuse to pull out my peacock stamps, SU inks, and aqua pen then start creating this card with the help of CTS sketch to guide me.
The weathered wood background seems to be a perfect fit for this design. The color and texture fit the bill exactly! Plus the banner is acting as my 'other color' for The Paper Players. I got a wood texture paper pack at Michaels and it has proven to be a worthwhile investment.
This sentiment is well...... Amazing! The movement of the script works well with the peacock.
I also adore the parquet wood border against the distressed wood background.
It is a fantastic juxtaposition.

Masculine Vintage

Hello Everyone,

Today starts a new challenge at The Male Room. Our challenge theme for the next coming weeks is about vintage images, themes, and phrases. We want to see what your interpretation of this theme. Just remember, to keep it masculine. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The images you see are actually vintage images that were collected by Mynn Kitchen from MHKDesigns. They worked so well and I didn't have to 'fake' the images to look real because they are authentic.

Above: I decided to create a montage of images that would represent our theme. The antique car, typewriter, and phone are just a few. I distressed the card with Distress Inks- Rusty Hinge, Barn Door, Evergreen Brough, Vintage Photo and a bit of Wild Honey. I daubed the card versus sponging because the ink would have smeared. The mustache was my daughter's idea and I think it is fantastic! It balances the entire design. Below/Left: This photo was taken to remember my letter layout. I like the final result better because the 'a' could act as 'a classic' and part of the word 'classic'. Bottom/Right: As you can see the letters started out unfinished. I distressed them using the same colors as the card then, with an old paint brush lightly applied white paint and crackle finish. I really do enjoy how this turned out. I honestly didn't think I had it in me to do a vintage card.

Little Lamb

Hello All,

For today I am writing on behalf of PINspirational to let you all know we have a new challenge these next two weeks. But before I get to the challenge here is my card for today.

Blessings throughout the card. The little lamb provided by Imagine That! is too cute for words. The background, sentiments, and image were all done digitally. I have said it before but it worth it to get to know your photo editing software.

I wanted to add a bit more whimsy and sweetness to the design. I did that by adding a soft gray ribbon to the top and bracket die-cut on the bottom.
The image was also colored digitally, kind of... The moon, star, and part of the blanket were all colored digitally. I then printed it out, shaded and colored the lamb and blanket fringe. The blanket is from MHKDesigns digi paper from Their digital images and papers are divine. It is worth a peek.
