Wine Time

Hello All,

For today I would like to play along with The Paper Players and Simon Monday Challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This was an easy and fast card to create. It features DP from Recollections Backyard summer series. The wine and its bottle are from a sticker set again from Recollections.  This card is all about relaxing and de-stressing. I gave this card to my coworker who had a less than desirable vacation.
I did add a few embellishments including three glitter enamel dots
and washi tape. I thought the glasses and bottle were floating in space so I added the washi tape to ground them.
I took the sentiment that came with the paper pad and trimmed it down to fit.
Then added a white border to coordinate with outer layers.

Warm Fuzzies

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Creative with Stamps, My Time to Craft and Crafty Gals Corner challenges. I have wanted to use this stamp for a long time. So here we go; my card for today, enjoy!

The background stamp is from Peddler's Pack.
The image was colored using Polychromo colored pencils.
I have learned to love this product because they blend so beautifully.

I used the spotlight technique for the heart and then traced around the outside of the die and manually cut out the vellum heart. I do have a nesting heart set but the next size up was way too big. The black banner completes the sentiment even though they are from two different sets.
The black border looks so sharp against the colored stuffed animals. It frames the background so nicely. I also like the banner continuing under the heart sentiment. It all came together so nicely.

Wild for You

Hello All,
I am writing to throw my hat into Cupcake Inspirations. This a technique that is older than dust! I haven't used in awhile and thought here it may be appropriate. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I can't find a tutorial for this technique but essentially you mask off areas with some Post-It notes and daub around the edges leaving the middle relatively light. I first stamped the zebra print, twice. why? The stamp was square, I had to line it up in the MISTI and flip the paper and stamp it again. I masked the area that was already stamped so it wouldn't have overlapping patterns.
The white border really lets the letters pop off a pattern card.
The black banner was done for that purpose too, to stand out in the mist of pattern and color.
I wanted to create a bit more dimension so I stacked the Altenew Bold Alphabet dies 4 or 5 high on 110lb. CS. I think visual and actual dimension is what makes this card so unique.

The Bird

Ok before I start this post has nothing to do with 'the bird'. It is about a CAS card I did for Cupcake Inspirations and The Paper Players. I just did it because it was funny and attention-grabbing. So did it work?
Anyhow!?

Hello All,
I am writing to throw my hat into The Paper Players and Cupcake Inspirations. Narrowing down a bird image is like narrowing down a flower image. Way too much to choose from the images I have acquired over the years. So I used a die cut and a paisley stamp. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

A simple Tim Holtz bird die cut from dark pink paper.
The branches, also from Tim Holtz, is die cut from dark green DP.
The cupcake challenge used a very pretty color combo like the one you see here. For the background, I lightly sponged over a Stamplorations stencil in the place where the bird should be highlighted.

The only detail is a stamped paisley to the wings and tail.

Thank you... Hooo

Hello Everyone,

Today I am going to be playing along with The Card Concept and CAS(E) this Sketch. So, here we go, enjoy!

Lots of white space surrounding a lot of color. The owls are actually coloring stickers that I found at The Outlet. Thought they would look good on a card (isn't there a blog by that name?).

Above: These owls are pretty funky so why use normal boring leaves? No way! I used a leaf that would speak for the rad owls. I ended up coloring this little guy but he didn't fit with the cover design. I didn't want to waste him, so I put him on the inside. I thought it was a nice touch. Below: The stickers were already adorned with this gold glitter. Again a nice touch and adds a bit of sparkle too.

Vintage Wallpaper

Hello All,

Well, it is with a heavy heart that I am announcing my last post for The Male Room. It was a terribly hard decision but one I thought needed to be made. Life has gotten too busy for me to give the attention that this fantastic blog deserves. This is a very supportive group and for that, I am so grateful to have been a part of such a wonderful design team.

The theme for the next coming weeks is all about Inspired by Film! You can choose objects, themes, and/or phrases that pertain to the subject. We want to see your interpretation. Just remember, to keep it masculine. Here is my card for today, enjoy! Here is my last DT card that is inspired by the film The Great Gatsby

The old vintage Art Deco pattern reminds me of the glamorous setting throughout the movie.
It was set during a time when Art Deco was in vogue. But seriously, did it ever go out of style?

The background was done using a stencil that came with a peacock stamp set by Stampendous.
It was a happy surprise when I discovered this little gem!
I placed the stencil down on off-white 110lb. cardstock and sponged on Distress Inks. Rusted Hinge for the outside and Peacock Feather for the middle.
I then added a single adhesive enamel dot to the feather that wasn't blocked by the sentiment.
Distressed the edges using Vintage Photo.
The sentiment is an edge die-cut 'happy'. I then stamped and embossed in white completing the sentiment 'for your kindness'.
Well, that should do it for me. If you haven't already done so, hop on over to The Male Room to see other inspirational cards by our talented design team. It is surely going to spark some ideas and then join our challenge. Looking forward to seeing you!! Until then, take care and happy stamping!

Pearl Jellyfish

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with CAS Watercolour Card Challenge, Hand Stamped Sentiments, and CASology. Jennifer McGuire's video on Perfect Pearls was absolutely inspiring. So I decided to dust off my Perfect Pearls. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This background started black, white and gray.I had made it over a year ago and thought it would look nice on a future card. ( why would throw anything away.)  I used Distress Ink to sponge on blue and green throughout creating the watercolor. Quickly I added iridescent purple Perfect Pearls before the ink and water had time to dry. The ocean needed movement and thought this cover panel would be perfect.
Above: So I watched a card video with Jennifer McGuire (My husband called it card porn. 😂) She demonstrated lifted the powder with VersaMark ink on the stamp. It left an amazing negative space! Click here to see her video.  One little detail I forgot, not set it first. So it kind of worked.  I had to clear heat emboss them because it needed a bit more definition. Left/Below: This shot is taken in the light. It changed the entire ocean scene to a shimmery water scene. Right/Bottom: After clear embossing the little creatures I thought it needed a bit more glow. So, I sponged over the embossed images with white pigment ink. The effect is amazing!

Wild Rainbow

Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with CAS Colours & Sketches, City Crafter Challenges and Addicted to CAS. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Very fast card featuring a zebra pattern embossed in white.
I sponged on Distress Oxide Inks (Iced Spruce, Worn Lipstick, Squeezed Lemonade) lightly on cardstock. Wiped away the excess from the embossed areas.

The stamp I used is actually square.
The MISTI was invaluable! Stamped the pattern, embossed.
Flipped the paper 180 degrees and masked the embossed area and stamped.
You would never know.
The sentiment was stamped on vellum and aired dry.
The rhinestones mask the adhesive dots underneath.
