Mostly Mauve

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with Rainbow Card Challenge. Their color this month is mauve. This is not my favorite color on the planet so I thought I would take on the challenge! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The sentiment came from another paper pack and I thought it fit perfectly with the roses.
A simple strip of dark mauve said just enough.

This card was created using the Altenew Craft-a-Flower: Rose Layering Die Set. I have tried with other designs to get it to look like a rose but to no avail. The colors weren't right because they were in the wrong family. So I thought I use a color challenge to force me to stay within the mauve color family.

I started with a paper pack that included all shades of mauve. So I plucked them out and went to work die-cutting. The leaves came from the same paper pack so I knew they would coordinate.

Challenges Entered:
Rainbow Card Challenge: Challenge #26- Mostly Mauve

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Finicky Felines

 Hello Crafty Friends,

Today I am playing along with The Paper Players. Their challenge surprised me this fortnight. Why? Well... Felines! I am NOT a cat fan at all because their dander sends me to the hospital. I have the biggest allergic reaction to these little 'cuddle' creatures. So, I thought I would try it by using a tiger. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I lightly distressed the edges of the card for a clean and relaxed look. The tiger looks kind but fierce. Just like the sentiment states.

The quote stamp includes the word courage. All I did was mask the 'courage' out with a post-it note and stamped the rest of the sentiment. I also masked the sentiment to stamp the clouds by the quote.

The word 'courage' was diecut three times, taped to some scratch paper, and inked in an ombre of colors. Its shadow was cut out of vellum to dull down the background; allowing the sentiment to stand out.

This is one of my favorite quotes of all time. I had it on my bathroom mirror for years. The quote became apparent for me while going through infertility. The anguish of treatments, shots, procedures, and ultrasounds only to find out you didn't conceive or lost the pregnancy was probably the most trying time in my life. That is when I had that quote on my mirror and read it every day for years. Saying 'I will try again tomorrow' was an understatement. After years of disappointment and loss, I finally had a baby girl! That baby girl is now fifteen! I am so lucky and privileged to have her in my life.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Peachy Green

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Color Hues. I just received the Altenew Craft-a-Rose die set. Takes a bit getting used but I think I may have gotten the hang of it. Well, you can be the judge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

In the Northern Hemisphere Spring is in the air and with it comes flowers and colors! Oh, sweet color! Something I haven't seen in forever! This card is a good illustration of Spring by using a single colorful rose on an inked embossed background.

The embossing folder was inked using the color Pesto by Ranger. It adds just enough texture to the dots to stand out. I simply love that embossing folders are coming back in vogue.

The 'hugs' diecut was cut three times and then stacked on top for dimension. I taped down the sentiment and added an ombre peach to the diecut.

Pearl Flower 2

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with The Color Throwdown, The Flower Challenge, As You See It, and Color Hues. Here is my card for today, enjoy!!!

These colors remind me of Spring.
This palette of colors and shiny textures is so refreshing, crisp, and so pretty.

Above: The flowers were colored using a layered stamp set by Altenew. Left/Below: This glowing effect was down using Perfect Pearls and an Altenew layered flower set. I stamped the solid image of the flower stamp set and added Perfect Pearls. I then took the next stamp in the set and added VersaMark ink which lifts the Perfect Peals off the first layer. A darker blush tone was stamped for the next layer. Right/Bottom: I dry embossed and added gold ink to the folder that transferred to the paper

Challenges Entered:

The Flower Challenge: #53- Use Your Latest Stamps or Dies
As You See It Challenge: #244- Getting Cozy
The Color Throwdown: ctd630
Color Hues: Challenge #12- Peach & Green

The colour that makes me feel the coziest is soft peach.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Freshly Made Sketches, Challenge Up Your Life, and Let's Squash It! Challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

All the red on this card is intoxicating.
The white border and sentiment strip seem to offer a nice break from the red. The leaves too seem to keep the eye in-place.

The background and strip are from the same sheet of paper split into two sections. I inked an embossing folder using Ruburab Stalk ink on both sheets. The strip was inked once again for a darker tone. Lastly, after it was dry I spread white pearl ink over the embossed hearts. I think the texture really stands out. That is until you put this card in the light!

Chihuly Challenge

Hello to my Color Dare Friends,

Today we have a unique photo challenge for you. This inspiration is from a famous American artist named, Dale Chihuly. I have been fortunate enough to see his work numerous times. An exhibit came to town when the kids were little and we frequented his exhibit throughout the entire Summer. His work is remarkable and stunning. So, when I saw the inspiration for this next challenge I was elated! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This card has a lot of layers, color, and texture. Of course, so did Chihuly's work.
I tried to capture the color and circular movement from the inspiration. The background panel is an old panel that I reconstructed. I wiped the entire panel clean with blending solution and then added the colors you see now. I then applied VersaMark ink all over the panel and added Perfect Pearls for some shine.

Now for our challenge!

I wanted the elements to be a bit funky for this design. I added three flowers with white funky centers and a clear enamel dot for the center.

This picture illustrates perfectly the shine on the alcohol panel. I love those colorful dots throughout the design. Like the traditional flowers with nontraditional elements, the colorful dots are a twist on the traditional enamel dot.

Well, thank you again for taking the time out of your busy day to visit my corner of the internet. I do hope you will join us at Color My Heart Color Dare and play along.

Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and stay healthy. Until then take care and we will see you soon!

Poppy Slimline

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with Just Us Girls, The Flower Challenge, and As You See It Challenges. This my new set from Altenew called Wallpaper Art; it has become a favorite. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I rarely use the same stamp set for an entire card but with the exception of the sentiment, this card is from my latest and greatest stamp set, Wallpaper Art from Altenew.

The bold flowers are what attracted me to the set. These were colored using alcohol markers in reds, browns, and yellows. The leaves were stamped in gray and colored in green. I layered that with embossed white and stamped gray leaves.

These blooms are large! They seem to be the perfect fit for a slimline card. The color scheme is beautiful and elegant.

Birds & Roses

Hello Everyone,

Today I will be playing along with Freshly Made Sketches. Here is my unconventional card for today, enjoy!

The other day I took out my acrylic paints, brayer, and went to town experimenting. After creating a ton of pages I thought I would stencil over the paint using Joseph's Coat technique. I grabbed the Mega Rose stencil from Altenew and laid it over one of the painted creations. Applied VersaMark Ink and heat embossed using clear powder. Then the magic should have happened when applying ink over the clear embossing but what I didn't realize is acrylic paint is plastic and resists DI too. Fortunately, the DI did resist a bit. I did spray a matte finish over it so it wouldn't smudge. I think it has a dreamy quality.

Because the background is so dominating I thought I would make the rest of the card simple. I first diecut the birds in black but it was too much for the soft background. So I tried white and it seemed just perfect.

The sentiment is what makes this card so special.
The long font creates an eye-catching cluster of three. The rhinestones add a bit of bling.

Love Bug

Hello Everyone,

For today I will be playing along with The Card Concept, INKspirational, Challenge Up Your Life, and Shopping Our Stash. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This mini-slimline shaker card is full of fun shaky heart elements. A lot of them came from the hearts that were cut out to make these heart windows, some are heart sequins, and some are from another card that used this same diecut.

Above: Masking the bug and heart allowed me to apply the color to the same layer alleviating the use for another layer of CS. The ladybug is colored using Copic markers. Fortunately, it did not bleed through the 110lb. CS. Left/Below: The entire upper layer was lightly inked using Picked Raspberry DI then masked the 'love' using a heart diecut then finished up inking using Crackling Campfire DI. Right/Bottom: The shaker is built up by using this same diecut cut 4x. I cut the center out of each layer and placed it on top of one another. This made for a substantially thick card. It did however make for the perfect spot for grass. An unexpected dimensional effect.
