Patchwork Autumn

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with Color My Heart Color Dare, Freshly Made Sketches, and The Paper Players Challenges. I love Autumn! Unfortunately, it is too short a season to really get its majesty. I do, however, try every year. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I started this card by going to my VAST paper stash and choosing papers that would fit an Autumnal feel. The patchwork inspiration came from CMHCD. The patchwork on the dress is all I needed to get started. I die-cut each square and distressed it using DI. This way all the colors have some continuity.

The blue border came from her bonnet which is so sweet. And the sprigs of leaves, wheat, and ferns came from her delicate bouquet. Holly Hobby was a true favorite back in the 1980s.

The sentiment came was die-cut at an angle. One for interest but also allowing room for the adorable mushrooms and foliage to get tucked in behind the oval sentiment. A strip of brown paper matches the patchwork border which accentuates the horizontal lines of the card.

Light

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Freshly Made Sketches. Here is my slimline card for today, enjoy!

Here in Michigan, there are 129 lighthouses. Each one of them is unique and special on its own. But all were meant for one purpose; to warn sailors of impending danger and make sure they get on shore safely. That is the enduring aspect of lighthouses, showing a way forward for all who travel. That is why I think they make fantastic encouragement cards.

Above: The scenes are meant to show no matter what, to let your light shine. It is for encouragement for hard times. Below: Each scene of the lighthouse has a shining element. As illustrated rain, sunbeams, and stars. This is from Hero Arts and their Looking Glass series of dies.

Sunflower Slimline

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Double D Challenges, AAA Birthday Challenge and Freshly Made Sketches. Here is my slimline card for today, enjoy!

This is one of my favorite color combination. Sunny yellows and oranges are so striking against the teal chevron background.
This card makes me smile as I am sure it will do the same to the recipient.

By crossing colors with each panel it allows for continuity between framed panels. I also did used the same concept when coloring the sunflowers

Patterned paper share the same hue but different tonal quality. This gives a nice and interesting background without too much business.

B&W Spooky

 Hello Everyone!

Today I will be playing along with ModSquad Challenge and The Male Room. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

All the images of Halloween are represented. All the images from ghosts to bones.
Along with just being an awesome stamp, it is also meant for the peek-a-boo die from HA.
This is such a fun and diverse stamp.

Each of the elements I thought should be white was colored with a colored pencil then a white gel pen. The gel pen created a fantastic white that a colored pencil couldn't do effectively.

The sentiment was die-cut three times and adhered to the card. I decided to add black enamel dots on the eyes for an extra spooky touch.

Cat Scratch Crazy

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing for the first time along with Festive FridayTheir theme is all about cats. I will also be joining The Male Room. So here is my card for today, enjoy!

I am not a huge cat fan but this card just cracked me up! I have been inspired by others that offer similar cards but this one I think shows the intensity of our kitty. I am told cat claws are as sharp as knives. I wanted to illustrate that with the wallpaper, drywall exterior, AND gypsum interior being ripped apart by our furry friend.

The wallpaper is from a black and white paper pad which I ripped to create the texture of claws. I drew lines on the bottom of the cats hind feet to create scratch marks.

The cat itself is actually die cut out of black velvet.
I gave this to my boss the other day who always says this exact phrase when she is stressed out.
It makes me giggle every time she says it.

Terrarium Card

 Hello All,

It has been a while since I played The Flower Challenge so I thought I would throw my hat, or card, in the ring! Enjoy!

I wanted to make a terrarium card. Meaning I added a lot of dimension to the hexagon before adding the magnolia flower. I created the shaped border by taping two hexagons die cuts together and cutting them all at the same depth.  I think the effect is wonderful.

This card is actually very small. I would estimate two inches squared with the hexagon poking over the top. It is a perfect little hello for someone special.

I used five hexagon shapes to create the 'terrarium'. I then placed the magnolia behind the hexagon. Sandwiched two other layers before adding the blue background. I think this picture depicts exactly how many layers are involved.

Gingko Leaves

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with The Color Throwdown and CAS Colours & Sketches challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I am never one to get a card mailed in time for someone's birthday. Terrible! I need to more dilgent because I really do care and want to show the recipient she is important.

The gingko leaves were created by randomly stamping the gingko leaves. Then lightly colored in the entire background using a light turquoise.

After the light turquoise wash I traced the leaves with a darker shade of the same color. Finally I colored the darker lines with the lighter turquoise shade to blur the sharp lines.
