I am here to introduce a new challenge at House of Cards. For the month of September the theme will be all about stitching. Stitching can be faux or real or maybe a sentiment regarding stitches. The possibilities are enormous and I am excited to see what you create. Here is my card I submitted for inspiration.
My inspiration card for House of Cards featuring stitching. |
Just tons of dimension without a lot of bulk. Way super cute for winter. |
Showing detail of the reindeer with Glossy Accents and the Brilliance ink around the perimeter of the die cut. |
Detail showing detail of the scarf I purposely wanted it look rough and nubby. Not perfect |
Challenge for the month of September- Stitch it Up |
How to:
- Cut and scored my white CS to be an A2 size card.
- Stamped snowflakes on blue lightly patterned paper and trimmed it to be an 1/8" smaller then card base.
- Rounded the corners of the blue PP and adhered it to the base. Set aside.
- Stamped reindeer and colored using Mexpy alcohol markers.
- Applied Glossy Accents to nose and antlers for some shine.
- Pierced holes where to stitch on the scarf.
- Stitched the scarf using red DMC thread as shown.
- Die cut around the reindeer and lightly sponged the perimeter before taking off the die using silver Brilliance ink for just a bit of shine.
- Added dimensional adhesive to reindeer and placed it on the card.
- Stamped sentiment once then again only inking 'warm fuzzies' in red dye ink.
- Matted sentiment using red CS.
- Adhered the banner to the card base and added a velvet brad. Added it to the card base.
One thing I didn't mention that I think helped tremendously is I used scotch tape on the back of the image where I would be piercing holes.. It gave the CS a bit more strength.
