For today I have a card that put a pang in my heart. More about that later, but I wanted to put my hat in the ring one last time at Color Throwdown. Here is my card for today, enjoy!
The configuration of hearts is reminiscent of a bracelet I had when I was a girl. |
Above: The division of color is very suited for this card. I really think the patterned paper on the bottom of the design is so pretty and playful. Wonderful for a dad from his tween daughter.
As you may expect, my dad is the recipient of this card. The sentiment is also for my dad, who has been gone for 22 years.
You will also find the twine is wrapped around the sentiment ending in a nice neat bow.

Below: The shiny hearts and coordinating sentiment look so pretty in person. I decided to use distressed silver on the hearts for a patina look. It just didn't seem right for it to be perfect.

When I was a girl, my dad gave me a silver bracelet for well... I am not sure. But I loved it!! It was very small, delicate, and perfect for an emerging young lady. What made this bracelet special was the way it was linked together. The links of the bracelet resemble the hearts on this card. Each heart was flipped to make a chain. One day, I lost it in the restroom. I ran back to retrieve it minutes later only to find it gone. I was crushed and didn't have the heart to tell my dad I lost it. Then six years later he passed away. This life changing event made the bracelet even more special. I was on a mission to look for its replacement. Who knows, I might find it and that would be a blessing, but if not, that's okay too because it lives in my memory and that is where it will stay. Forever.
Well, thank you so much for dropping in to spend time with me. I really enjoyed this project. It brought back some wonderful memories. Thank you for letting me share them with you. We will see you soon, take care and happy stamping everyone!!
All the best,
Shawna
