Masculine Vintage

Hello Everyone,

Today starts a new challenge at The Male Room. Our challenge theme for the next coming weeks is about vintage images, themes, and phrases. We want to see what your interpretation of this theme. Just remember, to keep it masculine. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The images you see are actually vintage images that were collected by Mynn Kitchen from MHKDesigns. They worked so well and I didn't have to 'fake' the images to look real because they are authentic.

Above: I decided to create a montage of images that would represent our theme. The antique car, typewriter, and phone are just a few. I distressed the card with Distress Inks- Rusty Hinge, Barn Door, Evergreen Brough, Vintage Photo and a bit of Wild Honey. I daubed the card versus sponging because the ink would have smeared. The mustache was my daughter's idea and I think it is fantastic! It balances the entire design. Below/Left: This photo was taken to remember my letter layout. I like the final result better because the 'a' could act as 'a classic' and part of the word 'classic'. Bottom/Right: As you can see the letters started out unfinished. I distressed them using the same colors as the card then, with an old paint brush lightly applied white paint and crackle finish. I really do enjoy how this turned out. I honestly didn't think I had it in me to do a vintage card.

  3. Your card creates the illusion of optical illusion :-) When I look at the card, I have the impression that the letters are waving, melting, losing focus once, and once becoming sharp. Cutting out the letters from the rippling background was an amazing idea.

  4. This is a brilliant design! I think the background image with all those lovely vintage items is perfect. Those letters and I read 'a classic' work perfectly, and the tache finishes it off just right. So nice to see the starting photo too. Love it. Sorry to be so late commenting! Deborah, xx
