H2O Maple Leaf

Hello All,

For today I am entering challenges from CAS Watercolour Card ChallengeHere is my card for today. Enjoy!

The leaf was traced from a maple leaf stencil. I traced the inside of the leaf in a pen and the outside with a pencil. When the watercolouring was done I would fussy cut around the pencil lines and erased the guidelines.
I watercoloured each section of the leaf a different colour. I wanted to stay in keeping of the natural color of a maple leaf.
Autumn is filled with texture, and so I thought I would put a bit of texture in the form of an embossing folder. The birch trees provide just the right amount this design needed. You will see too I ripped the paper from the upper left corner at a 30-degree angle. This way the tree embossing will not intrude on this beautiful leaf.

  3. Gorgeous maple leaf Shawna! Love the colours ... it looks like stained glass and is beautiful. Great work using a stencil to create this amazing card. Lots of work with tracing, watercolouring and fussy-cutting, but so work the effort when you see it done. The birch tree embossing adds a lovely bit of texture at the top. Great design Shawna! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour!
