Twofer Silhouettes

 Hello Everyone,

Today I am proud and thrilled to be one of the guest designers at the Twofer Card Challenge! Their theme these next two weeks will be the word- silhouettes.

How was I going to create a silhouette design? What to do... I needed inspiration so I hopped on Pinterest and found a plethora of silhouettes. You name it and there is its silhouette. I must admit it was a bit overwhelming. I had a professor explain to me a million times- there is a time when the design process has to stop. Now, you just have to produce. So here are my products for today, enjoy!

My two cards feature the silhouette of a young lady. However, I didn't notice that I created silhouettes within my silhouettes. The slimline card features silhouetted leaves among the young lady's hair. The ocean scene of the young lady is filled with silhouettes of aquatic life.

First Card
I found this .svg file on the internet for free. I loved it and decided THIS was going to be my design! I downloaded the file, turned on my Cricut, and got to work. I took out the positive space for the next card. I was left with an opening to stencil the hair.

The rainbow hair is the star of the show so I wanted to keep the sentiment simple.
A minimal heart design popped up from the card base is all this card needed.

Second Card

This is the result of the area I took out of the last image. All I did was lay the positive space on a white piece of cardstock. I trimmed it down and started sponging. I used Seedless Preserves, Salty Ocean, and Iced Spruce Distress Inks to create the ombre ocean water. I then stamped the sea creature in black and gray to create depth in the ocean.

Sponging it lightly will skip over some of the raised
areas of the card creating a white outline.

  1. Your colourful stencilling on your leafy silhouette is so rich and warm, Shawna ... it emphasises the sentiment set in the popped up heart beautifully! Your ombré ocean is gorgoeus ... there's such a great sense of movement both in the girl image (which puts me in mind of a mermaid!) and in the sea creatures swimming through her! Thanks so much for inspiring our players as our Guest Designer at Twofer! Anita :)

  2. Shawna, you've taken "silhouette" to a whole new level. Blown away doesn't even begin to describe the impact of these cards. The young lady is a wonderful image, and you've used her so beautifully on both of your cards. Incredible. Thank you so very much for Guest Designing and sharing your creations with us this month at The Twofer Challenge. These are so inspiring. Take care and stay safe. Bev

  5. The first thing that caught my eye with your cards was the intricacy of the silhouettes within the silhouette! Both are beautiful! I love the colorful hair in contrast to the white on your slimline card! Your ink blended ocean looks amazing with the variety of sea creatures! 6. These are both so great! I love the wild look of the girl and the colours. It reminds me of the artistic styles of the late 60s.
