Freshly Made Throwdown

Hello everyone!

For today I will be showing you two cards that were inspired by various card challenges.. You will see that both card layouts are very similar to each other but have very different design ideas. As you can probably tell both cards were inspired by one sketch; that sketch came from Freshly Made Sketches. One card was also inspired by Color Throwdown.. I really like how two cards had the same idea yet both are so completely different.. Well here they are..

I am entering this card into
Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown.
I noticed the wood grain on the challenge photo and thought it would be a nice touch for this design. It works very well with the traditional lace element on the card. The lace and wood work well together and adds a bit of texture and interest to the design.
Instead of adding a banner of some sort I decided to omit space and let the background be my banner leaving room for my sentiment to bridge its gap.
Detail showing the sentiment. The yellow really pops off the card.

This card will be entered in
Freshly Made Sketches.
Different take on the same sketch. Lots and lots of white space.
The blue backdrop works well with its complementary orange banner.
The background was stamped using bleach.
It is always a surprise to see what color come up when stamping with bleach.
This set (retired) from Stampin' Up has become one of my favorites.
Detail showing the leaves that were stamped with bleach.
The sentiment just pops off the orange banner probably because
of all that white space around it.
Entering Challenges:
Freshly Made Sketches: FMS202
Color Throwdown: ctd358

Well that is all for me tonight.. I better get to bed and rest my weary eyes. Take care all and thank you so much for the privilege of your time. If you'd feel so inclined to leave a comment that would be great.. Until next time my friends!

All the best,
Shawna

  1. Fabulous cards! I love how you've used the die-cut sentiment for the horizontal panel in the sketch. And the bleach leaves on the second card look so dramatic. Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.

  7. What lovely cards you created!! I like the look of the wood with the softness of the lace. I also like the large yellow sentiment. I think I like it better then the banner. More WOW!! The second card is fabulous too. I like the colors you used. I haven't done the bleach technique in YEARS. I should get it out and try it again because I LOVE the look!! Great take on the challenges!
