Stitched Scarf

Hello Everyone,

I am here to introduce a new challenge at House of Cards. For the month of September the theme will be all about stitching. Stitching can be faux or real or maybe a sentiment regarding stitches. The possibilities are enormous and I am excited to see what you create. Here is my card I submitted for inspiration.

My inspiration card for House of Cards
featuring stitching.
Just tons of dimension without a lot of bulk.
Way super cute for winter.
Showing detail of the reindeer with Glossy Accents
and the Brilliance ink around the perimeter of the die cut.
Detail showing detail of the scarf
I purposely wanted it look rough and nubby. Not perfect

Challenge for the month of
September- Stitch it Up
This was such a fun project because I have never done ACTUAL stitching on a card. It brought me back to my cross stitch days when I had better eyes!! Doesn't the reindeer look so cozy and comfy with the nubby scarf around his neck. This is how I did it!

How to:
  1. Cut and scored my white CS to be an A2 size card.
  2. Stamped snowflakes on blue lightly patterned paper and trimmed it to be an 1/8" smaller then card base.
  3. Rounded the corners of the blue PP and adhered it to the base. Set aside.
  4. Stamped reindeer and colored using Mexpy alcohol markers.
  5. Applied Glossy Accents to nose and antlers for some shine.
  6. Pierced holes where to stitch on the scarf.
  7. Stitched the scarf using red DMC thread as shown.
  8. Die cut around the reindeer and lightly sponged the perimeter before taking off the die using silver Brilliance ink for just a bit of shine.
  9. Added dimensional adhesive to reindeer and placed it on the card.
  10. Stamped sentiment once then again only inking 'warm fuzzies' in red dye ink.
  11. Matted sentiment using red CS.
  12. Adhered the banner to the card base and added a velvet brad. Added it to the card base.
One thing I didn't mention that I think helped tremendously is I used scotch tape on the back of the image where I would be piercing holes.. It gave the CS a bit more strength.

I hope you enjoyed your stay with me this morning.. Thank you so much for stopping by I really do appreciate your visits.. You know what I appreciate? comments!! Let me know what you think.. Take care all and I am looking forward to seeing you over at House of Cards this month.. Have fun and see you soon!

All the best,
Shawna
