Moonshine

 Hello Everyone,

For today I will be playing along with the Twofer card challenge. Here are my cards for today, enjoy!

The two cards feature the moon in two completely ways. One is graphic and the other more traditional. The moon was part of the June's My Hero Monthly kit.

The two moon diecuts collectively create a graphic design element.
The sentiment consists of two circle dies offset to look like.... well... a crescent moon.

I added an adhesive gem between the two elements for separation. Without the gems, it didn't seem to make sense. This was a good way to distinguish the elements.

A small pictoral tutorial of how I worked this design. I played around with the design elements and when I found one I like I die-cut a template. This way I could insert the moons in the right place all the time without mess or inconsistency.

Second Card

I found inspiration for this card on Pinterest (DUH! 😉). See here. The aurora intrigued me and thought I would try to CASE the pin I saw. Easy-peasy right? Wrong! This was probably one of the hardest cards I have ever created.

Trying to replicate the 'glow' of an aurora and Seeka's card was very challenging. After four tries I think I got it. A bit darker but the glow is there 😎.

I didn't want the aurora to be seen through these openings. So, I added some gray cardstock to cover the color behind it.

Challenges Entered:

Twofer: Challenge #30- Sun/Moon

This is a wonderful encouragement card and I am giving to a person who made my son a mask for school. His face didn't fit any mask I provided so I asked my neighbor and she agreed. So along with this card, I am giving her nine more as a thank you and I'm slipping some cash in there too.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

  1. I love the Mid-Century, mod vibe of your birthday card, Shawna. Such a cool retro look. What a great idea to use your moon this way. It looks like it was work intensive, but the results are so worth your effort. Your aurora borealis card looks pretty darn amazing to me. And it has come out beautifully. The yellowy green glowing is captured perfectly here, and I love the reflection on the lake. Pretty card. Two great cards! Thank you so much for joining us here at The Twofer Challenge. Bev

  2. Honestly, Shawna, I am over the moon (pun intended) at your innovation and the flawless execution of your sensational Twofer designs! You put a lot of work into both your colorful graphic birthday card and your aurora borealis card and it shows! I think your CASE of Seeka's card is perfection and I love the little cabin below. It will be treasured by your kind neighbor! Thank you for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #30! I hope you are keeping well! Hugs, Darnell
