Gracias

Hola Readers,

For today I will be playing along with Color My Heart Color Challenge, The Paper Players and CAS(E) this Sketch. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This was made by using old paper that happen to be in my stash. I cut them into varing strips in different widths and glued them down in a stripey manner.  I wanted to mimic the photo offered by Color My Hear Color challenge. Those stripes are gorgeous.

I used fringe scissors to cut the bottom of the card to look like the end of a rug. Then in my stash, I found the yellow fringey yarn and thought it would be perfect for this card.
With all the busyness I wanted the sentiment of the design to pop but not too much. I thought vellum was my best option. The sentiment is the focal point, but you can also see the color of the card show through.

Mopping Up the Table...

Hello Everyone,

For today I will be playing along with Color My Heart Color Challenge, AAA CardsCASology and CAS(E) this Sketch. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Look at all the color. I just love it! The captivating swirl came from wiping up the floor at Michaels. After every event employees have to clean but that doesn't mean you can't still be creative.  Tons of paint all over the table and thought I would mop it up with some black cardstock. Beautiful.

I colored the word 'thanks' using Copic Ciao markers. I meant to match the colors below to the swirly acrylic paint details.

Symphony of the Sea

Hello All,
For today I am playing along with Addicted to Stamps and More and Tuesday Throwdown. Here is my card today, enjoy!!

The photo inspiration was so compelling I am staying up way late to submit this card. The sentiment went together with the dreamy background. I had this background around for quite a while. I just tuned it up by sprinkling some Brusho's and then spraying water on the paper. The acrylic paint resisted the Brusho color. Now it has depth, color, and shine.

Speaking of shine, this shot was done to show the shiny blue aquamarine color. Pictures don't do it justice because it is so pretty in the light. Also the stamp frames in all the images beautifully. The staff, however, is 'out of the lines' which I think works very well.
When I embossed this beautiful image I regrettably noticed the image lost its detailed flavor but still had hints of the sea. So I stamped the image again on kraft paper and cut out the conch shell. I also stamped another shell in the same color for balance.
The music staff brings this entire card together. I used three layers to add a bit of dimension. Now the sentiment and theme of the card are crystal clear. To finish it off I embellished the card using three gemstones, again for balance.

Galoshes Galore

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with The Card Concept. Spring has sprung, that is for sure. Trees are bright green, lilacs are out. It looks so hopeful outside. That is why I created this card after a brutal Winter, Spring is here to offer hope for a nice Summer. At least that is what I want to believe. Here is my card today, enjoy!!

I made these boots about three years ago. I keep little bits-and-pieces that I didn't use right away. All I did to them was to wash the tips and strap with a bit more orange. This way, it coordinates better with the flowers.
Above: The wood grain background is designer paper but I thought it needed a bit of distressing. So I sponged along the edges and some in the middle to create a more outside look. Below/Left: The die cut flowers were colored with Zig markers and an aqua brush. Then tucking them inside the boots only on the bottom. This way the top can flare out for more dimension. Bottom/Right: These boots are sandwiched with a bit of cotton. I learned this technique by Vicky D and thought it was genius.

Horses, Roses, and No Hats

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Hand Stamped Sentiments and Double D Challenges. Here is my card today, enjoy!!

I have a card ready for its sentiment, right? Well not really... How do I put a sentiment that is based on the Kentucky Derby? I looked at everything I owned for a long time. Good luck, no, not right. Thanks, a complete no! Congratulations, um, it would work but for some reason, it just didn't work. Then I stumbled upon 'Best Wishes'! Perfect.  It would be perfect for all sorts of occasions!

The horses are a combination of stamped and digital images. The largest horse was stamped, scanned and printed. The stamps I owned weren't big enough to get the effect I wanted. Scanning it allowed me to enlarge the horse to the desired size.
The roses were stamped on red CS and then colored using Prismacolor pencils. I tried to create depth and realism with the roses. I used roses because the derby is nickname is 'the running of the roses'.
