Elegant Lady in Blue

Hello Everyone!

For today I am going to playing along with Cards in Envy and The Paper Players. I cannot believe I am submitting early... So un-me!! I was, however, very inspired. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

At first, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the hat. It just didn't 'fit' with the elegant dress. Then I thought of the English with all their magnificent hats. I thought drawing in feathers would be a good option.

I would love to say extending the dress was all my idea!
I was surfing Pinterest when I found someone who extended the dress. Genius, I just had to CASE it.

Left/Below: I am not sure I captured the sparkle that comes from the dress. All I did was paint a piece of CS. When it was still wet I added Robin's Egg blue glitter. In reality, it looks so pretty. Right/Bottom: I used the small die cut from the SU Paisley Framelits Die and a small blue dot. It seemed to be the perfect embellishment to finish off the card.

Challenges Entered:

This image from SU is very popular. I seem to see it everywhere from Pinterest, Instagram, and personal blogs. Each interpretation is so different and creative. I am just astounded how one image can transform into a beautiful work of art. I just hope I can do this wonderful image the creativity it deserves.

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon, but until then take care and happy stamping.

All the best,
Shawna

Seaside

Hello Readers,

Well, today I am going to throw my hat into Addicted to CAS. I recently bought this shell stamp and had to use it (again) for this challenge. Here are the stamp and my card, enjoy!

The sentiment is simple and so fitting for a seaside theme.
If you aren't sure what the sentiment means click here for a further explanation.

The white splotches were made to look like a wave crashing down creating the spray.
The paper is also torn to show a bit more texture.

The shell was stamped on paper made from shaving cream and dye ink.
click here to see how this technique works.
I loved the texture, color, and movement of the paper- perfect for the shell stamp!

Here in U.S.A., it is time for Spring Break.  It is a time to head south to warm sunny beaches or, as in my case, stay home; or what some lovingly call 'staycation'. We have always decided to stay homebound during Spring Break because the prices for everything is insanely higher than other time during the year. So we stay home and enjoy each others company. I have plans go to the local museum; there is an interesting exhibit the kids might like. Maybe, just maybe, I might get them to do a bit of spring cleaning. We shall see I guess. So, for those of you traveling please stay safe and for those of us who aren't, again, please stay safe and we will see you in a week!!

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon, but until then take care and happy stamping.

All the best,

Cards in Envy: Black and White Card Challenge

Some of you might remember The Male Room post from a couple of weeks ago. It was the Washi tape challenge where I lost the positive die cut of my plane. I wanted to keep it for another project but somehow it vanished in the black hole called my craft area. Well friends, the craft area finally coughed up the airplane!! Perfect timing for this challenge..

Well, that should do it for me. I hope you enjoyed your stay but more importantly, I hope you join our challenge at The Male Room. Until then take care and happy stamping! Take care all and looking forward to seeing you at The Male Room!! Happy crafting!!

A Fairy Hello

Hello All,

Today marks another Spring day. Here in the Northern Hemisphere things are starting to turn around. But still it is March and us Michiganders know, March is very unpredictable. Also, today marks the first day of our (PIN)spirational challenge for you to try. Before I get to the challenge I would like to share my card for today, enjoy!

The cutest fairy conversing with the mouse is what prompted the sentiment.
Plus, I just got it in the mail today and had to try it out.

Lots and lots of texture both visual and contextual.
The color palette came from our inspiration pin.
So Spring-like!

I decided to layer up my die cuts for a bit more dimension.
So I die cut the sentiment 4x and layered them on top of one another.
The 'hello' sentiment was only layered 3x.

My Time To Craft!

I have converted followers. I am now IN LOVE with my polychromo colored pencils. Their application is smooth and the pencil doesn't leave any waxy residue. The best part, they blend like a dream! My favorite aspect of this card, it is not symmetrical. Yet, it has balance and I think it is because the sentiment die goes past the image and frame which acts to balance the card. Which by the way, Isn't the fairy image the cutest image from Elisabeth Belle! If you enter you can win the image plus one more!

Well, that should do it for me. I hope you have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by my little byte of the internet. I do hope you will join us at PINspirational. It should be fun! Until then take care and happy crafting.

All the best,
Shawna

Silhouette in the Window

Hello Everyone,

For today I am playing along with City Crafter Challenge Blog and Inspired by All the Little Things. Both challenges seemed to fit perfectly. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The girl's silhouette is a retired digi stamp from Sami's Stamps.
I printed her out and made a window for the sunset scene.
The scene was created using Crayola watercolors!
Yes! No need to buy expensive products.
As you can see, the color is vivid and blend in so nicely!

Below/Left: You can still see some her face and hair as she sits watching the sunset.
Bottom/Right: I wanted the surround of the scene to resemble a wood window sill.

The inspiration photo for Inspired by All the Little Things took my breath away. As a little girl, I would visit my grandparent's in late Summer. They lived in a small rural town in Pennsylvania. Nighttime was always my favorite because Dad and Mickey Nana (Grandma) would talk into the night while I snuggled into my grandfather's gray winter coat. I don't remember what was said between the two but what I do remember is looking up at the vastness of space. I was then I was pulled back to the familiar voices in the background all wrapped up in the security of Big Bill's (Grandpa) gray coat. What I wouldn't give for that gray coat.

Well, thank you so much for dropping in to spend time with me. I really enjoyed this project. A lot of fun to create! I will be back, so until then take care and happy stamping everyone!!

All the best,
Shawna

ZenDoodle'ish

Hello Again!!

For today I am going to playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch. I have just recently become interested in Zendoodling. What a fun exercise fulfilling the soul. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Look at the Zendoodle carefully. Do you see the words 'so much'?
I wanted it to blend in with the Zendoodle so the recipient wouldn't even notice the extra sentiment.
I decided to use a black border to anchor the sentiment/image.

So much color and so much going on but it all works out because of the continuity of the design.
It took me eight drafts to create a doodle I liked.

Waterflower

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with CAS Watercolour Challenge and The Flower Challenge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!!

Simple watercolor background with all the colors of Spring.
This cluster of flowers was heat embossed in white.
I then sponged a darker color around the flowers to allow them to pop a bit more.

I was horrified to see that after I stamped the sentiment there
was something wrong. So carefully with a very fine tip pen, I traced over the sentiment
and adding thicker lines in places. It gives this sentiment stamp a whole new look.

The Flower Challenge: #6- Anything Goes

Well, thank you so much for dropping in to spend time with me. I really enjoyed this project. A lot of fun to create! I will be back, so until then take care and happy stamping everyone!!

Three R's

Hello Everyone,

For today I am be playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch. This sketch can be interrupted many different ways. Here is my interpretation, enjoy!!

Recovering from any illness or surgery can be difficult.
The clouds and raindrops represent feeling blah.
While the hearts and sentiment strip represent compassion and love.

The sentiment strip looks fantastic in bright sunny yellow.
Also, the two hearts balance out each other nicely.

I really like this dangly stamp from SU (retired).
It really gives the card a zentangle feel.

Foliage

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with CASology. I thought this card is very appropriate for the first day of Spring. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The square panel is a small part of a much larger watercolor panel.
I also really enjoy the ripped texture it seems to provide balance to the design.

The foliage was stamped and heat embossed using silver powder.
The two angles show how the leaves transform, so pretty.

Like I said above, the watercolor panel is a small part of a larger panel.
What attracted me to this section are the faint water splatters that leave a bit of texture and color to the design.
