Wicked...

Hello All,

For today I am entering challenges for Addicted to Stamps and More, Color My Heart Color Dare, and CAS(E) this Sketch. Today is Halloween!! I cannot believe I am saying this but the forecasters were correct. It is supposed to snow during trick-or-treating. Now it is certain I will hang back and distribute candy. Anyway, here is my card for today. Enjoy!
I wanted to go about the sketch a bit differently. Instead of using a small sentiment or word many times I wanted to use color layering for the same word. So, I diecut the word 'wicked' many times in multiple colors and layered them on top of each other. I thought this honored the sketch's qualities.
This shot is done using full light on the card, therefore, showing off all the sparkle this has to offer.
The chevron Halloween paper looks fantastic with the sentiment.
The chalkboard effect on the background panel gives a bit of texture and spookiness. Distressed with HA White Unicorn ink. Distressing is always a good idea for Halloween cards.

Bounty

Hello All,

Today I am playing along with The Color Throwdown and Freshly Made Sketches. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This Peddlers Pack stamp is absolutely stunning!
The stamp made the entire creation process a snap. I just stamped the image on gray cardstock in HA white pigment ink and heat set. I then colored in the sunset/sunrise using a Prismacolor pencil in an ombre pattern. I also colored the wheat lightly in cream on its tips. Lastly restamped the image in the same white.
This stamp is absolutely amazing. I love the texture of the wheat, its stipple design (my personal fav), and overall design. I left a gray border around the edges except for its left side, per the sketch.
Simple embellishments to adorn this simple card.
Some texture is essential for fall time.

Translucency

Hello All,

For today I am entering challenge from AAA Cards. This Halloween in Michigan it is supposed to snow. Perfect for trick-or-treating😒! I think this year I will hang back and distribute candy. Anyway, here is my card for today. Enjoy!

Ghosts were created using the masking technique. I traced paisley dies on CS and fussy cut. I then took that shape placed it on the gray and lightly sponged around it with black pigment ink.
Love those spooky ghosts. The masking technique really seems to be really effective. By using just sponging and no lines it creates a sense of translucency.
My black Copic marker went a bit haywire while coloring these eyes. It suddenly started to pour out of the marker after contact with the paper. Well happy accident! Coloring the eyes black was a fantastic 'idea'. It pops them out a bit more looking more spooky. Plus, the white dots are were a perfect finish to an already freaky card.

AAA Cards: Challenge #151- One Corner + the optional twist of using a Colour Palette

Plaid Trees

Hello All,

For today I am entering challenges from Creative with Stamps and Addicted to Stamps and More, Challenge Up your Life, and Merry Little Christmas Challenge. I said it before and I'll say it again; Christmas is just a heartbeat away, so I better get into high gear. Here is my card for today. Enjoy!

A clean fast card is always refreshing to see.
I chose the sentiment because the check pattern reminds me of soft, cozy, and warm fleece.

I think I am going to mass produce these for this year's Christmas card.

I diecut this pattern twice. Once for the check pattern and once for an exact fit from the black frame. I wanted to save the positive image from the black but I know it will sit on my table till Easter.

Merry Sentiment

Hello All,

For today I am entering challenge from The Paper Players and CAS on Friday. Christmas is just a heartbeat away, so I better get into high gear. Here is my card for today. Enjoy!

I chose black for my background to contrast the modern element (black) with traditional Christmas elements (holly). The best part, it only took me thirty minutes to produce.
The holly stamp was embossed with white and then colored in using white pigment ink and an aqua pen. The 'splatters' were stamped using the same pigment that I used to color stamp and color the holly.
You may not see it in the picture but I diecut the sentiment with adhesive fun foam. I chose to use the sticky side to adhere to the letters, not the card. I used liquid adhesive to attach the foamy letters to the card base. The liquid gave me some time to move around the letters to achieve alignment. Worked beautifully!

Not So Sweet Candy

Hello Readers,

I hope all is well with those who are reading this blog. For today I am going to be playing along Tuesday Throwdown, The Male Room, Inkspirational, and Shopping our Stash. So here is my card for today, enjoy!

This is a one layer card with lots of visual depth. The eyeballs that are falling have the appearance of falling inside the frame and the pile on the bottom has overflowed outside the frame. This pile of eyeballs was all done by using the masking technique.
I drew the guidelines for my frame in pencil. When finished I just simply erased the pencil lines. This eliminated the chance of overdrawing past the corner of the frame.
It sounds like a small detail but it helped tremendously!
All eyeballs are bloodshot and definitely creepy, especially inside candy wrappers! The eyeball candy stamp has been in my stash for years and just now am getting around to using it! I colored all the eyes using Prismacolor pencils. The light shading on the edges of the eye adds a bit more veins and color to the already spooky image!
Challenges Entered:
Tuesday Throwdown: Challenge #443- One Layer Wonder
The Male Room: Challenge #122- Halloween
Shopping our Stash: Challenge #407- Halloween
Inkspirational: Challenge #198- Mask

H2O Maple Leaf

Hello All,

For today I am entering challenges from CAS Watercolour Card ChallengeHere is my card for today. Enjoy!

The leaf was traced from a maple leaf stencil. I traced the inside of the leaf in a pen and the outside with a pencil. When the watercolouring was done I would fussy cut around the pencil lines and erased the guidelines.
I watercoloured each section of the leaf a different colour. I wanted to stay in keeping of the natural color of a maple leaf.
Autumn is filled with texture, and so I thought I would put a bit of texture in the form of an embossing folder. The birch trees provide just the right amount this design needed. You will see too I ripped the paper from the upper left corner at a 30-degree angle. This way the tree embossing will not intrude on this beautiful leaf.

CAS Pattern Paper

Hello All,

For today I am entering challenges from CAS Stencil Challenge. I thought this would be a challenge considering patterned paper usually doesn't go with CAS. Wow! Was I wrong! Here is my card for today. Enjoy!

I wanted to pick a patterned paper that wasn't too bland.
Some contrast allowed the large and small leaf modeling paste to pop.
I think the visual and actual texture really makes this card special.
The patterned paper made all the difference. The blurred background scene and light autumn text is so beautiful against the stark white maple leaves.
Look at the texture of the paste! To me, it does have notions of an actual leaf.
Wet for time than baking in the sun gives the leaf a crackly texture and not uniform.
