Cream, Mauve, and Moss.

Hello Again,

For today I would like to play along with The Color Throwdown. I have had this image laying around for two years or so. The colors are subtle and beautiful. I thought this image would be perfect for this image. Here is my card for today, enjoy.

This image is stunning, isn't it? It is by A Day for Daisies and I just love the gracefulness of this lady. Like I said in my intro this image and sentiment have been printed out for two years or so just waiting for the perfect challenge. Here we are.
I layered the white CS onto cream CS to emphasize the cream color in her dress.
It is subtle but effective.
I lightly scribbled mauve all around our lady for some depth and some subtle color. I also added some iridescent sequins at cluster spots of flowers or feathers.

Mermaid Original

Hello Again,

For today I would like to play along with Sketch Saturday, Papercraft Challenge, Sunday Stamps and CASology. Here is my card for today, enjoy.

This gorgeous mermaid is from A Day for Daisies and is sponsoring Papercraft Challenges this week. I adore this image because of its artistic sketchy quality. I colored her using the color challenge from Sunday Stamps. The beautiful subtle colors seemed perfect for an ocean scene.
The placement of the mermaid outside the scene looking in really enhances its design. Plus I grounded her on the sand for a bit of depth. The clouds and ocean are layering stamps from Hero Arts. I lightly sponged the sky using Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, and Sea Salt Distress Inks. I think the effect is just beautiful along with the stamped clouds really creates a realistic sky.
The sun sparkles along the ocean using Embossing powder and Wink of Stella. These layering stamps are outstanding. They make it so easy to create these wonderful scenes. I wanted to lightly shadow the mermaid's tail, skin, and hair to look like it was dimensional. I think it turned out fairly nicely.

Flower Inchies

Hello All,

For today I would like to play with these challenges; The Flower Challenge, The Color Throwdown, Creative with Stamps and Freshly Made Sketches. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Spring is springing and, to be honest, I welcome it. Spring is about fresh bright colors all crisp and clean. This was the idea behind this fresh clean card. The images are all digis, except for the sentiment. Working with digis are so much fun. You will need some knowledge of your photo-editing software. Just play around with it and you will find the possibilities are endless. For example, the digi image I made is made of four different flowers. By using layers and scale it creates a pretty interesting composition.
I accidentally printed the image on computer paper. UGH! but then I remembered my daughter. She is currently working with alcohol markers and gets lots of success with computer paper. So, I thought I would give it a try and you know what, she is right! Not much bleeding, more control over your color saturation, and blending is a dream. When I get more advanced I will probably graduate to more sophisticated paper, but for now computer paper is working just fine.
The inches were raised using foam adhesive. A trick from Jennifer McGuire made this card tolerable to put together. Yes, I used foam adhesive but I knew I needed to move the squares around after it hit the paper. She taught me to put liquid adhesive on the foam adhesive. This gives you an opportunity to wiggle around the square before it adheres. GENIUS! It worked very well, thank you, Jennifer McGuire!

Balloons

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Twofer Card Challenge. Their challenge is all about balloons. Here are my cards for today, enjoy!

__________________________________________
First Card
Deflating balloon

Above: I am using the balloon stamp and the action 'poof' stamp to suggest I messed up and missed their birthday. Nothing is more upsetting than a deflating balloon. Left/Below: The black border frames this CAS scene very nicely. Right/Bottom: The action sentiment was colored using Prismacolor pencils. The balloon was stamped and embossed in white. I sponged Stormy Sky DI around the balloon. It looked a bit bland so I colored the balloon squares with a red alcohol marker. I think it made all the difference.

 Second Card
Using the same balloon stamp as above.

Above: This card shows actual floating balloons with lots of color and movement. Left/Below: The ombre balloons are so pretty. I created them using a multi-color ink pad. I stamped the balloon on the pad using an up and down motion. It does muddy up the ink pad a bit but look at the results! Right/Bottom: The cloud background is DP from my stash. I thought the whimsical clouds and visual texture were perfect. The 'thank you' sentiment is what I think makes this card special. The movement of the stamp and the balloon placement is so much fun and playful. I stamped the sentiment first in gray, then moved the paper a bit and finally, stamped the black to create a fantastic sense of depth.

Minty

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Fusion and Retro Rubber Challenge Blog. I love this challenge! I thought long and hard how am going to go about this 'mint' thing from Fusion. Well, it only took skimming through my mint paper when ideas started flowing. I will explain more in the captions. Here is my card today, enjoy!!

The striped paper background started this entire design. The color was a perfect mint green. The snowflakes were part of a larger sheet of designer double-sided paper I found in my stash (picture below). I individually die cut the snowflakes into circles; I think it was a good idea from fussy cutting around its outline. I feel it would have been too busy.
As you can see by the picture the patterned paper which was double sided
adorned with silver shimmer.
Above: I stamped the girl in the oh-so-cozy sweater, cut her out, and placed her over the sentiment banner. Left/Below: The oh-so-cozy knit sweater reminded me of one of the pictures from the inspiration photo. I have wanted to use this stamp for a while and this was my perfect opportunity!  Right/Bottom: Some of the die-cut snowflakes have some shimmer and shine and matches nicely with the silver shimmer of the standalone flakes.

 Challenges Entered:
I have owned both stamps for at least two years

Shamrock Layers

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with  Crafty Gals Corner, The Male Room, and The Card Concept. Here is my card today, enjoy!!

This card consists of five different DP patterns. Each layer was torn and then placed on the card. The color scheme was inspired by The Card Concept. The shabby chic inspiration photo led to creating a random layout.
Above: Both green shamrock papers were perfect for all the challenges listed. It creates tons of physical and visual texture. Left/Below: This is showing the sheen of the medallion and the center of the card in the light. You can also notice the depth that was created using the ripped layers of the card. It was a pleasant surprise to see the final product.  Right/Bottom: I used two out of the three-layered die cuts for this card. It reminded me of Celtic shapes used throughout the region.

Challenges Entered:
The Card Concept: Challenge #110- Shamrock Blessings
Crafty Gals Corner: Challenge #187- Add a Shamrock/Clover
The Male Room: Challenge #106- Gorgeous Greens
