Slim Red

Hello All,

Today I am going to be playing along with Freshly Made Sketches and INKspirational. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The second I saw the inspiration photo from INKspirational I knew I had to use this stamp from Dylusion called Doodle Parts. It is a fun and unconventional set.

The stamp was inked about four times red to accommodate the slimline design. I colored each 'arm' differently to make each of them look unique.

The sentiment is actually one stamp that reads 'Better an oops than a what if!'. As you can see all I did was take out the 'oops' and added die cut that spells the word. I added some foam behind the letters and banner sentiments for a bit of dimension.

Keep Swimming!

Hello Everyone!

Let's try this a sixth time! You know what they say, 'sixth time's a charm'. UGH! For those of you who aren't aware I have tried numerous times to write this paragraph but Blogger isn't saving my work. So I put the paragraph in another program and saved it as a picture.

Anyway, for today I will be playing along with Watercooler Wednesday, Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge, and yes, CASology. I will playfully plead my case later in this post. So, here is my card for today, enjoy!

This a water die I got a couple of months ago. It comes with four dies which I layered to create the pool. I am going to bring my argument that indeed this is a CAS card. Why? Well, let's look at your guidelines. I will paste them here
  1. One main image- The main image is the pool with the girl. I think it could count as one image because the subject goes together.
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered- YES! Lots of open space with one simple sentiment.
  3. Limited layers & embellishments- Okay this is where it gets sticky. It does have layers but they are concentrated into one image, the pool does have a monochromatic color scheme and the outer layer is also the center of the pool thus eliminating a layer.
  4. Quick & easy to recreate: 10-15 minutes to create. Easy peasy.
Mind you I do this in good fun and humor. Please don't take offense but I think I have made my case. Or should I say CAS?

Simple sentiment for a simple card. It makes for a fantastic encouragement card.

The center of the pool and the edging are both a very dark blue. It is hard to see in photos but in real life I promise it is blue 😉. The jumping girl is a die from Hero Arts July 2019 kit. Remember 2019?

When I was pregnant with my daughter I used always say this to her in my head. I always get a giggle when I see this stamp while my daughter, now 14, just rolls her eyes! heheee..

In the Garden

Hello Everyone,

For today I will be playing along with Wednesday Creative Inspirations- In the Garden! I will also be playing along with NBUS, and Watercooler Wednesday. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This a pic of the card laying flat. The sentiment is inside the card and gives plenty of room for a handwritten message inside behind all the 'clouds'.

This clearly demonstrates how the card is designed. The clouds surrounding the garden act as a good color buffer and, again, leaves lots of room for a written note.

I distressed the white clouds with Stormy Sky DI and colored the garden using Copic markers. The garden is a digi stamp from Power Poppy. All I did was print it out on regular computer paper (forgot to heavier CS in the printer), and colored it. The printer paper worked great with Copics! It has less of a tendency to bleed around the object you are coloring. I then adhered it to heavier CS and fussy cut around the garden.

The butterfly was printed twice and colored twice. The second butterfly was printed on CS scrap, colored, and then cut out. I adhered the butterfly by the body making the wings free to 'fly'.

Namaste...

Hello Everyone,

For today I will be playing along with As You See It Challenge. The power of three, as we all know, is the cornerstone to design. I don't know the science behind it but it seems to be more visually appealing than even number clusters. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The power of three on a CAS card. The jet black hair is mimicked on the border for grounding these three little ladies in the design.
This card was created in a flash! I don't think I have ever done a card in less than ten minutes! Until now! This card took nine minutes!!! Nine minutes and that includes coloring! Whaaaaa?

These little ladies were colored using Copic markers.

Celebrate Ice Cream

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Sunday Stamps and Day of the Month Card ClubI just NEED an ice cream right now after finishing this card. So, here is my card for today, enjoy!

This card was created by using the masking technique and then stamping the background with the Concord & 9th Sunshine Turnabout stamp. The dots were also stamped using the same set.

The dark brown and light brown background papers are to mimic the chocolate coating on the cone melting on the actual ice cream cone. The sentiment shares the same colors as the background papers.

Oh, those sprinkles! The ice cream was stamped in brown and then colored using Copic markers. Coloring all the sprinkles was so much fun! However, after all the coloring I really wanted to indulge in a nice soft-serve cone with sprinkles!

A Million Buttons

Hello All,

I am playing along with Freshly Made Sketches, If You Give a Crafter a CookieThe Color Throwdown, and Retro Rubber Card Challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The background stamp of buttons is lightly stamped on the white CS. A small detail that brings it together. However, I didn't use the spotlight method. I just simply forgot about it till I was done. Bummer but I still like how it turned out.

I added a bit of depth by popping up the circle with dimensional dots. The button number seemed like a perfect our backdrop for the colored background stamp.

I completely expect a giggle for what I'm about to say. I actually had to look up how to write the number a million! Somehow it didn't, and still doesn't, look right for some reason. I guess the reason is I have never seen so many zeroes (or button zeroes) put together.😂

Blue Swallowtail

Hello All,

At least I think it is a swallowtail... Please correct me if I'm wrong but that isn't why I am here. I am here to enter Color My Heart Color Dare challenge. Their monochromatic color palette happens to be my favorite color, blue. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The blue background was done awhile ago using a gel plate, watercolor paints, and DI. I added shades of blue of DI and watercolor directly onto the gel plate- sprayed some water on the plate and laid it down on the watercolor paper. I made four or five backgrounds but this one was the first generation and my favorite.

Above: The panel is quite small so I thought it would be a good idea to offset the panel to the corner of the card. Left/Below: The butterflies are actually from an Anna Griffin Mink foiling package. The butterflies were colored using Copic Markers and then brought it to the Mink for foiling. I used a black glitter sheet for the butterflies- pulled it through the Mink, peeled off the sheet, and there before me, glittery blue butterflies. Right/Bottom: I added a smattering of gold acrylic paint and thought it would be a perfect way to highlight the sentiment.
