Snowy Retreat

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with ModSquad Challenge. Their theme is a snowy cabin. So, here we go! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I think you can imagine riding through the covered bridge to wind your way to a snowy cabin retreat. The light is on with your other already there to welcome you at the door. I think the sentiment says it all.

The card scene was stamped in white pigment ink and then colored using Prismacolor pencils. I used white for the snow effect it would have on the image. The colored pencil gives the scene a softer more relaxed look.

The snow was created by using a stencil and embossing paste. If you look in the background you will see light white flakes. This was done for dimension.

Snowy Night

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Just Us Girls. I really enjoyed the photo inspiration. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I love snowy scenes! This was done using Hero Arts watercolor paper that came in one of their kits. I stamped the lamp-post and sign using white pigment ink, I let it dry and then used masking fluid to cover up the ornate sign. I wanted to use DO inks for a dark blue almost black background. The pigment quality of the oxide ink made the sky an inky dark blue.

I think this card would be perfect for a new neighbor. We live in an urban setting and thought this would be perfect for them.

You will notice the open store is the bakery. Early to rise to bake the morning bread for the day. They do not call it Baker's hours for nothing.

Just Because

 Hello Everyone,

Today I am thrilled to be the Guest Star Stamper for this week's Color Throwdown! Their color combo is Pale Pink, Blue, and GrayThis card was so much fun to create! So, without further ado, here is my card for today, enjoy!

I have to honest, this was one tough challenge. Why? Well I rarely, if ever, have used these colors together. I guess I never realized it till I had to work with pale pink, blue, and gray together. I started with the Art Deco die-cut which was very intricate so I thought lots of white space around the sentiment would be beneficial.

I did however stamp an intricate flower to match the pale pink die. Against the busy background is a white border and dimensional tape around the flower. This highlights the flower and its sentiment.

Partial die-cutting was done to create the circle. I completed the white area by fussy cutting around the flower. I like the clean look partial die-cutting provides.

Well, that is all for me!! I want to thank The Color Throwdown Challenge again for this amazing opportunity to be their guest designer for this challenge. I also want to thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to join me at TheGrandStampede. If you are new to my blog, please consider following me to get all my postings.

Wonderful Wycinanki

 Hello All,

I have been playing with this stamp/die set for a while now. I haven't posted too many cards featuring it but now I am featuring two of them for Twofer. Here are my cards for today, enjoy!

The two cards feature the stamp from Altenew called, as the title of this post suggests, Wonderful Wycinanki in two completely new ways. I adore this graphic representation of flowers. I invite you to Google 'Wycinanki' and see the panorama of designs and colors.

Card #1:

It seems by looking at some examples of the Wycinanki style that symmetry is their primary design pattern. So I followed by example and created a symmetrical design.

I was at a loss on what colors to use for this card so I consulted my trust color wheel for inspiration. This is the color scheme using 'secondary' colors. Purples, greens, and oranges seemed like a perfect combination for this card.

Dark purple was used throughout this card. The outer layers of the flowers and the horizontal stripes on the card. I think the stripes frame the flowers and sentiment nicely.

Card #2

This card features the Wonderful Wycinanki stamp and die set. The center flower was stamped while the others were created using the 3D die set.

Again symmetry is what guided this card.

A closer look at the dimension of the flower. You could do so much with this set! I think next time I am going to try to inlay the pieces. Stay tuned!

Pop of Pink

 Hello my CMHCD friends,

For today I am sharing our next challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

My neutral background and metallic embossed flower motif are accentuated by bright pink and white flowers. I added the pink using a pink ballpoint pen. While the ink was still wet I used my finger to smug the pink around the flower to create a halo effect. A white gel pen was used to pop the flowers from its dark backdrop. I finished the card by coloring the stems and leaves using a fine tip marker in dark brown.

Now for our challenge!

After I stamped and embossed the background I sponged it with Vintage Photo, Gathering Twigs, and Walnut Stain Oxide Inks. I intentionally left space around the sentiment lighter than the rest of the card. I also added more Gathered Twigs DO on the flowers to darken them and distressed the edges using Vintage Photo DO.

I stamped the flower motif then heat embossed it using silver. The sentiment stamp is from an old SU set. I liked it because the font has the same winding elements as the stamped background.

I chose heat embossing

Well, thank you again for taking the time out of your busy day to visit my corner of the internet. I do hope you will join us at Color My Heart Color Dare and play along.

Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and stay healthy. Until then take care and we will see you soon!

Winter Birthday

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch, Challenge Up your Life, Addicted to CAS, and The Paper Players. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

One layer winter birthday card is for my daughter's fifteenth birthday! Wow, did time fly! She is one that caps off all of the birthdays in my husband's family. I am not kidding! My husbands father, mother, sister, my husband and my son all have birthdays around December! My daughter is the last of the bunch. The next birthday is mine, in August.

The snow 'wind' was done by mounting the stamp in the MISTI then stamped the first image. Lastly, I  flipped the cardstock and stamped it again. I think it gives a nice balance.

Stamped the snowflakes on white cardstock then heat embossed in white.
Sponged Iced Spruce, Salty Ocean, and Faded Jeans Oxide Inks over the base allowing the snowflakes to resist the ink.

Challenges Entered:

CAS(E) this Sketch: CTS #404
Challenge Up your Life: Challenge #131- Snowflakes
Addicted to CAS: Challenge #189- Snow

Quick Card

Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with As You See it Challenge and the Rainbow Card Challenge. Their challenge was to create a card in ten minutes or less. Well, challenge accepted! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Another part of their challenge is to use scraps. No problem! All I had to do was just look at the piles on my craft table of projects that either failed or items kept for a future card. These are my scraps from my craft table turned into a card.

The stenciled dots background is a scrap from a failed project. I went to recycle it but then.... Why? All I did with the scrap was cut a strip off the bottom and placed the paper at an angle and added the strip to the card. It took a second to do but I think it has a fantastic impact.

So it just sat on my table. I also rounded up a scrap of wood patterned paper and the diecut sentiment. Cut the shadow from the wood scrap and placed the sentiment on top. The sequins are the only thing I had to 'get' and probably took the longest to place- 4 minutes to be exact.

Challenges Entered:
As You See It Challenge: Challenge #241 - Speedy Scraps
Total time: 10 minutes

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Special Panel

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Freshly Made Sketches and Time Out Challenge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This alcohol panel has been sitting on my craft table since the beginning of the pandemic. I loved it so much and didn't want to screw it up. After many comments from the Stamp Junkies (FB page), I got some fantastic ideas and thought now is the time to use this panel. Well, maybe later! Cold feet are coming!!!

The background is a scrap of patterned paper. I really like its texture and its light purple color that coordinates with the dark purple banner. The hearts were recycled from another card that failed but not here! I think they look fantastic!!!

Here is a close up of the alcohol panel. I die-cut the word 'hugs' three times and laid it on the panel to match the contours of the white ink.
