I have given a lot of thought to today's post.. It is about strength and renewal in the face of darkness and tribulation. Becca Cruger from Damsel of Distress has put together a fantastic blog hop.. It is called Hop to Stop and it was created to raise awareness for victims of domestic violence. Please go to her blog to get more information about this critical issue. Also I am adding this from her blog:
"Abuse is not just physical. It can be emotional, too." I think this is an important point to add. Just because the bruises are the inside and can't be seen doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.
So in good crafting fashion she is raising awareness by having us all create cards with the color purple; the color for domestic violence.
Here is my submission:
1 in 3 women will experience domestic
Inspiration also came from this challenge:
CAS(E) this Sketch: challenge #143
As I mentioned above the color for domestic violence is purple. So naturally a purple background was in order. I created a bokeh effect stamping multiple dots in different sizes and colors. Then sponging around the dots for an ombre effect. The white butterfly is represent renewal and rebirth in the face of adversity. All it needed was a vellum overlay for a bit of texture. The vellum is repeated with the sentiment strip.
I feel the sentiment speaks of Becca's story. She has found strength and power in the face of adversity to overcome domestic violence. Now it is her turn to raise awareness in the best way she knows how; starting this blog hop and gathering the best card makers to show their best and raise awareness to this life saving cause to you, the reader.
Thank you for stopping by and taking time with me to discuss domestic violence. Feel free to leave a comment good, great, or otherwise. We will see you again at TheGrandStampede.
All the best,
Shawna

The pure white of the butterfly is to represent renewal
and rebirth in the face of adversity.
1 in 3 women will experience domestic
violence over the course of their lifetimes
All different shades of purple were
used to create the bokeh effect.
The vellum was used on the butterfly for a bit of texture and dimension.
Then repeated with the vellum sentiment strip.
The white butterfly stands out from the entire design.

beautiful background, its nice to see different techniques. wonderful job!
Beautiful card! That white butterfly really pops! Great take on the sketch!
I think your card is absolutely lovely. When looking at it, I thought the bokeh effect was so much like domestic violence. There are parts that are more hidden and layered in darkness. I just love the beautiful imagery of it and the gorgeous sentiment. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and raising your voice to bring awareness for victims of domestic violence.
