Architecture! My Favorite

Hello Everyone!!

For today I am hosting Make My Monday Challenge Blog!! But before I announce the theme for this week here is my card. Enjoy.

A very simple card for our wedding anniversary. The background features
patterned paper of a home with some simple banners to add a bit of color.

As some of you may have guessed our theme for this week is:

Adding a simple brown border with banners underneath made for a simple but effective
card the sentiment was typed on the computer and then printed out.
This card was made for my husband on our 12th wedding anniversary. By this time we have set roots in Michigan, bought a house, and had two children. We were definitely building our lives together. The house seemed very appropriate for the sentiment and was not too feminine to give to my husband.

He loved the card and I was happy. As he was admiring it I told him I needed it back to be photographed and promised he would get it right back. His reply 'You better! If not, I know where you live!'. Even after all these years I still love his wit.

Time to turn in! Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you can stop hop on over to Make My Monday Challenge and see what the other talented DT's have conjured up. It is my hope that their inspiration will prompt you to play along. See you there or be square!

All the best,

What does the Fox Say?

Hello Again,

Sorry to plant that ear worm about the fox but for the challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments I thought it to be very fitting.. Here is my card for today. Enjoy!

Entering Challenge:

The medallion was stamped using the baby wipe technique.
Banners are consistent with the color challenge.
Fox is colored using PrismaColor pencils.
The DT's from Hand Stamped Sentiments might reconize the layout of this card. It is one of your challenges you had from this sketch challenge. Unfortunately I finished a bit too late. Then I saw this color challenge and I couldn't believe my eyes!! Every color is present!!

I know the medallion stamp is an oldie but, oh, what a goodie. It is a timeless design and is one of my favs. Your sketch challenge was screaming for it to be used but too late to post. So lucky I can finally share this with you..

Well that is all for me.. I want to thank you so much for joining me today and I hope your visit made your day a bit better.. Take care and see you soon!

All the best,
Shawna

Krafty Card

Hello Everyone,

For today I will playing along with The Challenge, Inkspirational and Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge. The photo inspiration from The Challenge was my jumping off point for this card and then I saw what HLS was doing and it all came together. Here is my card for today.. Enjoy!

Spotlighting the poinsettias on the tag and coloring
the rest of the image on kraft paper in white.
 Entering Challenges:
The Challenge: #50- photo inspiration
Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge: November 2015- Tag
Inkspirational: #95 Colour Challenge: Anything goes with silver

Just a bit of silver to lighten up the design.
The silver is actually ribbon that I had to cut and then tie.
for the sentiment I laid them out in strips
and die cut the sentiment.

Close up details of the card. I think the spotlighting is really effective and the
silver finishing touches is just what this festive card needed.

Usually I go into a project with an inkling of what the design might look like. For this one however, I had no idea... So I'm lying in bed thinking of the card-to-be with all the challenges at the forefront of my thoughts. Then I thought of this stamp came into play and spotlighting it with a tag. The rest just fell into place.. ah! Time to find another challenge to enter.

That should do it for me.. Thank you so much for visiting me today and I hope I made your day a bit brighter. Take care all and we will see you soon.

All the best,
Shawna

Winter Wonderland

Hello Everyone,

For today I am writing on behalf of Brown Sugar Challenge Blog. This weeks theme is:
NO patterned paper

This is a challenge that I found to be quite difficult. More about that later. Here is my card for tonight. Enjoy!

White snowy texture surrounding this colorful scene.
Theme for this week is 'no patterned paper'
Our sponsor this week is the talented Morgans Art! These images are just amazingly detailed.. I had the idea later but some of the detailed scenes could be perfect for using the spotlighting technique. She also has other amazing images that you should check out her store. It will surely amaze!
Their prize this week are
3 digi stamps from Morgans Art.

A close up of the winter girl possibility making a wish.
The coat color coordinates nicely with the background sunset.
I decided to surround this Winter Wonderland all in white
to depict the whiteness of snow. This allows the image to pop.
Detail image of the snowflake touches to this winter scene
I decided this design didn't need anymore surrounding color but it did need
some texture.
If you follow me regularly, you might have noticed that I have used this image once before. Originally, I designed the other card for the BSCB inspiration card. When I was preparing the last finishing touches on the card I realized that I didn't know what the theme was for this week; then realizing you couldn't use patterned paper... Oops! So back to the drawing board I went and came out with this card.
In the end, I had a great time creating both and I feel both turned out so well.

Well that should do it for me.. I want to thank you so much for spending some of your day with me.. I really do appreciate it and do hope you can join us at Brown Sugar. I am looking forward to see your designs!! Take care all and see you soon.

All the best,

Interesting Fold

Hello Everybody!

For today I am playing along with the Paper Craft Crew Challenge Blog. Their sketch challenge was one that caught my eye! Here is my card for tonight, enjoy!

All these glorious colors make for a fantastic birthday card.
This card ordinary enough...
....Until you open it up! There is nothing ordinary about
this folded card!
Coloring the letters just adds to the fun of this card.
My up-line Patsy Waggoner from Stamps to Die For sent me the most wonderful Halloween card the other day. Cute witch beautifully colored and the 'web' dollie that I just drolled over. However, when I went to open the card I found that it had this fold. I thought it was so interesting and departs from the normal A2 size card. PCCC was the perfect challenge for this type card. Thanks for the inspiration!

Entering Challenge:

Plaid Girl

Hello Again,

I wanted to get this card into Curtain Call and TimeOUT Challenge while I still had some time to blog.. The plaid challenge took awhile to process but then I thought paper piecing would be perfect for this type project. Here is my card, enjoy!

This card was die cut twice and then
popped up for a bit more dimension.
She looks like she is making a wish.
So I thought stars and the sentiment were a perfect fit.
Paper piecing the jacket looked very flat until the shading
came into play. Now I can hardly tell it one piece of paper.

I saw this plaid and said 'that's it!'. Paper piecing her jacket seemed like a natural fit. The cuffs and hood are part of the base. I wanted to keep her coloring light so the jacket could play off the sky and the stars. After looking at her all colored she seemed to have needed more dimension so I die cut the image twice and raised the center. So why not have the entire card be the exact shape? I think the purples and reds work so well with the jacket.. I actually suprised myself when pulling off the mask after I built the sky.. This one I will keep for a bit but it will most certainly go to someone special in my life..

Challenges Entered:
Curtain Call: Plush and Plaid
TimeOUT Challenge: #43- Use Pink and/or Purple

   TIME OUT Challenges

Okay, I have to run and do some errands.. Thank you for taking time out of your day to spend with me.. I do hope you will leave a comment but if not that is okay too.. Take care and we will see you soon at TheGrandStampede.

Deer Behind Vellum

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with The Male Room. This card turned out just right for this challenge. Here is my card for tonight. Enjoy!

I stamped the reindeer on the back of the vellum then sponged
a white piece of CS and attached it all with the gold brads.
Leaving the center of the CS white it gives
the illusion that it is glowing. The vellum also diffuses the color nicely.
The sentiment is was done using gold foil.
After a bit of practice I finally got it..
Close up of the center panel.
This card does have a masculine feel due to the wood backdrop. I had this remnant on my table for ages then finally got a chance to use it.. My experience with the foil is mixed. When it is done right, WOW it looks great but it takes a lot of trail and error to get there. I don't think I will use it again due to the time it took to apply it correctly. I will be interested in what you have to say about foil.. Any tips and tricks I should know about if I do attempt it again?

Challenge Entered:

That should do it for me.. Again, any tips and tricks would be appreciated along with any comments you may have.. Thank you for taking the time to spend with me tonight.. Take care and we will see you soon!

All the Best,
Shawna

PS. My kids just read the title and they asked 'Why did you do a card about a deer's behind...' I told them to read it more carefully while I had to walk away and laugh..
