LUCK

Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Simon Says Stamp, Inspired By..., Just Add Ink, and Freshly Made Sketches.  Here is my card for today, enjoy!

At first, I used ink to cover the white panel and it just wasn't working for me. So I put down a bit of white acrylic paint and added green reinker. I gradually added more green as I went down the panel trying to blend all together. In the end, I created an ombre backdrop of rainbow greens.

The three strips come from a card that was done awhile back. It was created using the Concord and 9th- Marbled Turnabout in all metallics. The cutout of the 'U' is from pearlescent green paper. Lots of shine and shimmer.

Freshly Made Sketches: FMS476
Just Add Ink: #545- Colour!

Simon Says Stamp: A Bit O' Green

My grandmother on my mother's side was from Ireland.  Lucky for my sister she lived in Ireland for a time. So these cards do tend to be sent out to my family. Who knows we might venture that way someday and visit my roots.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Birds of a Feather

Update: Due to the comments I added captions that tell in detail how this card was created. I don't know if this happened to anyone else but when I first created this post every time I would put in a caption it would freeze and bomb out. That is why I didn't use captions for this post. Sorry. I decided to try again and now it worked.

Hello All,

Welcome to my second guest appearance at Just Us Girls. Their challenge this week is to use embossing folders. They are coming back in style I think it's because of the 3d folders. For this card, I was no exception. I purchased this beautiful feather background 3d embossing folder and what an amazing effect. So without further ado here is my card for today, enjoy!

I started with black cardstock and dry embossed the feather background. I added color using Distress Oxide Inks (Peacock feathers, speckled egg, aged mahogany, and vintage photo). I used a sponge to add the color approx where the feathers were.

Challenge #575
Trend Week - use an embossing folder

After the panel dried I lightly scraped the surface with Versafine Ink and, using my fingers, sprinkled gold embossing powder and heat set. This allowed the gold embossing to be more sporadic vs dumping the powder. I also added gold embellishments to compliment the gold embossing.

Above Left: This is a good example of the patina effect. By adding the appropriate color and minimal embossing powder it created the aged look I was after. Above Right: The sentiment also has some shine as does the banner. The banner was simply gold designer paper from a Hero Arts Monthly set. The sentiment was done by stamping it in dark blue and again with Brilliance Pearlescent Sky Blue ink. That is what gives out the shine. The darker ink is for when it is not in light. It shows better I promise. Below: I think the black cardstock base set the tone for the panel. Some of the black cardstock did show through that only added to the design.

Well, that should do it for me. If you are visiting from Just Us Girls thank you for popping in and seeing some of my work. If you are new to my blog, please consider following me to get all my postings. All the other followers and visitors thank you too I do appreciate every visit. We will see you next week with another challenge from Just Us Girls. Until then, take care and happy crafting.

Teacups

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Color Hues. The teacup image is actually recycled from another card. I wasn't too happy with the last card so I pulled it apart for scraps (I sound like a junkyard for cars). So, I saw this challenge and knew how to recycle the image. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Spring is Springing

 Hello Crafty Friends,

Today I am playing along with The Paper Players, Daisy Chain, The Flower Challenge, and Challenge Up Your Life. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The Peddlers Pack stamps never disappoint. Their stamps are of excellent quality and the large images cover a card nicely. They also have a nice shadowing effect using stippling as part of the design.

I simply colored the crocuses and lilacs in shades of purple using alcohol markers as a base. I then added watercoloring and some colored pencils for detail.

The sentiment is so fitting for this card. I wanted a border but didn't want to obstruct the colored image so bordering it with vellum seemed to have made sense.

Michigan has had a stretch of nice weather lately. My husband and I decided to take advantage of the warm weather and take a walk during lunchtime. While walking in the woods I came upon a pile of brown leaves surrounded by snow. That is when I noticed it... a bunch of Crocuses. Oh my, I couldn't have been happier. Things are getting better and I am hoping this is a sign of a new fresh start.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Three Panels and Some Flowers

 Hello All,

Here I go again with the Craft-a-Flower Rose die set! I have been trying to perfect the layering so for today I will be playing along with Freshly Made Sketches. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

These three panels were an experiment using acrylic paint, stencils, heat embossing, and DI ink. I think it turned out well and seemed like the perfect fit for this card. Apparently, acrylic paint also resists DI. I should have thought acrylic paint has a semigloss finish and would resist ink. Lessons learned! However, I did use the ink and it did take on a bit of the color. All I did was seal it with spray so the ink wouldn't smear off. I like the effect.

Instead of using white for a backdrop, I thought I would change it up and use coral. I like the way the color blends so well with the flowers and panels. The sentiment is off-white, even that seems to blend into the card too.

Here we are at the roses! I love the layered look of the flowers and leaves against the funky three-panel backdrop.

Buffalo

Hello Friends,

Well, more awesome news at TheGrandStampede. I have been asked by the talented gals at Just Us Girls to be their guest designer for the month of March!! What fun and am so excited to work with this seriously talented group of cardmakers. So without further ado, here is my card for today, enjoy...

Simple kraft card stock and a stamp
The outside is a buffalo, but deeper inside, other animals and designs are shown. This really ties into the " strong inside and out" sentiment I selected for this card. I especially love the buffalo itself (as if my logo doesn't give that away). Buffalos survived a near extinction, but like the sentiment suggests, they remained strong.

This is a simple, single-layer card, with only the word "strong" popping out, making it appear powerful. I like the emphasis on strength and the way it adds depth to the card.

The edges are distressed to create a more textured and earthy feel, reminiscent of the buffalo's natural habitat. The shadowy look also contributes to the dimensions of the card.

Lemonade and Grapefruit

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with The Paper Players and Sunday Stamps. You will notice a different backdrop; that is because my husband had a video call for work and my photo station was right within eyeshot. So I brought it up to the kitchen where there is tons of natural light. Lucky for me, there is not a cloud in the sky. Anyway, here is my card for today, enjoy!

Summer is right around the corner and with that summer drinks, camping, and family. I thought this card was perfect for summertime.
I just love drinks in mason jars. I know it's trendy but really, sign me up!

The background was done with Distress Oxide ink, gelli plate, and stencil. I stamped the gelli plate using Abandoned Coral, Carved Pumpkin, and Spiced Marmalade and brayer it out on the gelli plate.  Wiped the remaining color away and added white pigment ink and laid the dot stencil on top of the panel and stamped. Pulled up the stencil and stamped again with the remaining ink on the gelli plate.

The mason jar was stamped colored using alcohol markers then fussy cut. I used all the colors on the color swatch to this mason jar scene.
