Wheat

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with CASology. Their challenge this month is an interesting one, wheat. Well, it just so happens I got some inspiration on Pinterest- more about that later. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

These stamps are from an old PTI set called 'Mighty Oak'. The diversity of this set is what makes it one of my favs. This design is graphic, clean, and simple. Even though the stamp set depicts an oak tree I thought this would be another way to use the stamps. Well, I had some inspiration from Pinterest (of course) click here for the link.

I added a dark brown cardstock scrap at the bottom of the card to
visually ground the wheat on the card.

The sentiment is also an oldie but goodie from Gina K. Designs. The stamp had detail below the sentiment. I wasn't too crazy about the frill so I cut it off for a cleaner simpler look.

Holy Night

 Hello my CMHCD friends,

Welcome to a special edition from CMHCD! For today I am sharing our next challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare. Team B is now showing our traditional side to Christmas colors. I used only one color, navy, the rest are either neutral or metallic gold. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The scene of Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus is omnipresent for this time of year. As I said previously, the only color used was navy. The color of the night sky upon Jesus's birth. The Star of Bethlehem guiding the scene on this card and is what guided the 'Wise Kings from the East' to the birthplace of Jesus Christ.

Left: 'The Star of Bethlehem' was die cut using the metallic paper and then covered with vellum. I die cut another embellishment from the same cardstock and added one jewel in the center. The card is an A2 size card. I had to create the card part a bit smaller to compensate for the star hanging over the edge of the card. Right: I stamped the scenery of Bethlehem in light gray for depth. I had to fill in the surrounding with a gray colored pencil leaving the halo appropriately white.

An interesting note regarding the 'Christmas Star' was in the news recently. I will link to the article hereEssentially the alignment of Jupiter and Saturn will be the closest it has been in 800 years. This conjunction will be so bright that it will look like a star, a Christmas Star.

How utterly appropriate to end such an awful year. A year full of fear, death, and falsehoods only to end with a planetary alignment as bright as a star. A star that will represent hope and light- at least for me.

Well, thank you again for taking the time out of your busy day to visit my corner of the internet. I do hope you will join us at Color My Heart Color Dare and play along.

Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and stay healthy. Until then take care and we will see you soon!

Merry...Merry...Merry...

 Hello my CMHCD friends,

For today I am sharing our next challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare. I have a TicTacToe "Serenity" Color Palette to share with ya'll.  Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I recently received a couple of new stamps.
One was the Concord & 9th 'On the Diagonal' stamp set. I didn't get quite get good enough so I decided to cut the panel up into letters. Two fonts were used to make the word 'Christmas'. The fatter letters have bows and are placed at an angle. The thin fonts are positioned straight and do not have bows. I also added adhesive foam to the back of the letters for dimension. There is a method to my madness. 😏

Now for our challenge!

I chose Using: Toffee, Blue Belle, Sapphire

I really took advantage of the color silver. The little silver houses on the DP helped with this inspiration. I added silver everywhere; even the string I used to hang the letters is silver! However, I do believe it works because the color scheme is a bit unique for a Christmas card.

The snowflake that is dotting the 'I' is a random button that has been floating around my various craft areas for YEARS! I have no idea where it came from but I finally decided to use it on this card. It was a bit brown from age and getting handled for four years. I spruced it up by coating the snowflake with VersaMark ink and added glittery embossing powder then heat set.
Now my random little snowflake has a home.

T-day

 Hello All,

For today I am playing along with ModSquad and Cardz 4 Guyz card challenges. Here in the United States, it is only two days till Thanksgiving and my turkey is still frozen solid in the frig. Please tell me I'm not alone? Anyway, here is my card for today, enjoy!

This scene is a stamp from Hero Arts. It is part of their peek-a-boo series. I enjoy this stamp so much because of the dinner spread. A sense of community and family surrounds the dinner table. The word 'Happy Thanksgiving' is stamped on white card stock and scallops diecut all around. I like the way this sentiment is laid out. At first glance, it seems like three separate sayings. Very appropriate for the holiday.

I colored the kraft cardstock using Prismacolor pencils. It seems like an ideal coloring tool for kraft paper due to its waxy nature. It covers very nicely.

I focused on the star of the meal, the turkey.

Challenges Entered:

Thanksgiving is, by far, my favorite holiday. It is time to catch up with family, friends, and others in my community. It is time to celebrate culinary and cultural traditions. It is time to get the spandex on and eat, drink, and laugh.

This year, however, is different. Like some of you, this year will be spent apart from those we love most. Yes, we will Zoom, Meet, or however you video chat. Somehow though, it is not the same as actually seeing them, giving them a hug, and telling children how much they have grown. I will miss that very much. They are here in our hearts and for that, I am grateful. I wish everyone who is reading this and beyond blessings, comfort, and contentment while we wait through this pandemic. I wish you happiness, love, and healing during this difficult time in our lives. I am thankful for all of you out there reading this message. Please stay safe, stay healthy, and please try to stay hopeful. This is my wish for you.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Embossed Trees

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Inspired By... challenge. I thought the graphic nature of the challenge photo was so inspiring that I thought I would join in the fun. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The trees are brushed using DI- Antique Linen and white pigment ink on colored cardstock.

I extended the sentiment strip to include some white space. I thought it added a modern touch to the design. The wood delivers a traditional feel. In contrast, the trees deliver a contemporary feel.

I added some dry embossing to the trees for a bit of subtle dimension.

Blues and Rock

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with Retro Rubber Challenge, The Male Room, and AAA Birthday challenges. My son just turned 13 and has Beatles-mania. So I thought this card would be perfect for him. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

As I said above, my son's birthday was just the other day! He turned 13 and has a case of Beatles-mania! This explains the sentiment. I also like Retro Rubber's rock graphic; very fitting. He also plays the piano every day and has weekly lessons. I have known from a young age he loved music. He gravitated to every toy that was music based. So what a wonderful way to use an old stamp that is so fitting for my teenager.

The diecut piano keys and wavy background are elements I had laying in a drawer. I couldn't throw them out so I saved them and they sat for years. When it came time to pull together a birthday card in a snap I went through my drawer and came up with these; dusted them off and made his card! It helped that turquoise is one of his favorite colors.

The wavy background was a watercolor panel that was stenciled and distressed on the edges using acrylic paint. I added some dimensional adhesive where the card met the keys and came up with a fabulous shadow effect.

Challenges Entered:

AAA Birthday: Game #19- For A Child
Retro Rubber Challenges: They Say It's Your Birthday- #rrcb148
(CAS-ual Friday Stamps: Bold Wishes- At least 1-year-old)
The Male Room: Challenge #144- Toys

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Orange you glad...

Hello my CMHCD friends,

Today starts another challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare. These next two weeks your challenge is to work with one specific color, ORANGE! Besides blue, this is one of my favorite colors. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Orange is a very energetic color. It invokes excitement, enthusiasm, and warmth. The orange on these flowers are a bright and cheery color. It is perfect for the sentiment.

Lots of textural elements adorn this card. My favorite is the embossed background. Inked up the folder and ran it through my Big Shot. I not only have the embossed texture but the color variants from the ink.

It is hard to see but the green leaves are infused with a metallic luster.
