Hexy Bees

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with Color My Heart Color Dare, Global Design Project. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Flowers and bees are images that always conjure up Spring thoughts. The background image was stamped and then sponged around the flowers using the same color to create a 'glow'.

Using only two colors was quite a challenge! Why? Because of the leaves, which are meant to be green. So to keep with the neutral theme I colored them gray. It reminds me of the black-and-white photos that were popular in the 90s. The photo was all gray except for one item; like a red rose or green eyes.

I wanted to give these pollinators a fuzzy-looking body.
So I used the stipple method to create dots of yellow color.

Challenges Entered:

Color My Heart Color Dare: #593- Only Two
Global Design Project: GDP#438- Sketch Challenge

Thank you so much for stopping by, and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. I hope you all have a fantastic day and lots of good crafting vibes headed your way.

All the best,

Patchwork Autumn

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with Color My Heart Color Dare, Freshly Made Sketches, and The Paper Players Challenges. I love Autumn! Unfortunately, it is too short a season to really get its majesty. I do, however, try every year. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I started this card by going to my VAST paper stash and choosing papers that would fit an Autumnal feel. The patchwork inspiration came from CMHCD. The patchwork on the dress is all I needed to get started. I die-cut each square and distressed it using DI. This way all the colors have some continuity.

The blue border came from her bonnet which is so sweet. And the sprigs of leaves, wheat, and ferns came from her delicate bouquet. Holly Hobby was a true favorite back in the 1980s.

The sentiment came was die-cut at an angle. One for interest but also allowing room for the adorable mushrooms and foliage to get tucked in behind the oval sentiment. A strip of brown paper matches the patchwork border which accentuates the horizontal lines of the card.

Challenges Entered:
Freshly Made Sketches: FMS511
Color My Heart Color Dare: Challenge #468- Inspiration Photo
The Paper Players: Theme Challenge- PP566

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes are headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

All the best,

Complementary

 Hello my CMHCD friends,

For today I am sharing our next challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare. This is an interesting challenge because it involves the color wheel we all know, love, and adore. Today we will be concentrating on complementary colors. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This modern geometric card was made from a stamp by Concord & 9th. It is part of their Turnabout series of stamps. This card is the 6th or 7th generation using the geometric stamp. I am here to tell you this is not at all as easy as it looks on videos. I have spent lots of frustrating hours trying to get it right. This one was my best try with this stamp. Others I own are much easier to get a satisfactory product but this one eluded me!

This complementary color combination made a fantastic Father's Day card.
Blue and orange are a wonderful combination for the masculine modern aesthetic.

I bordered the design with a rose gold border
and the same with the sentiment.

 Hello my CMHCD friends,

For today I am sharing our next challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare. You have a pick of at least three colors from the picture provided and remember, black and white are free! I would like to ask you to please identify your color choices in your blog post. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I decided I wanted to follow the bird theme for this card. I stenciled a feather background and used a cute little bird sitting on the sentiment. I colored the bird with Crayola colored pencils! I am in the process of cleaning and organizing my craft space. Around the mess, I saw the Crayola pencils and used those instead of grabbing something else.

I used mostly purples, blues, and pinks!!!

The circles were embossed using iridescent paper glaze at each of the corners for balance. It seemed to fit nicely with the font of the 'hello' sentiment.

I triple stacked the sentiment using this pale pink cardstock. However, it did look a bit bland against the paper glazed dots so I added some Wink of Stella to the 'hello'. It added just enough sparkle and with a few gemstones, my project was complete. My craft area? Well, that is another story!

Cassettes

 Hello All,

Welcome to another challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare! For this challenge, you must use the colors that are specified. Remember black, white, and silver are free.

So what does this color palette spark? An occasion, an image, or maybe something in nature? For me, it brought back memories from days gone by. The years of mixtapes and retro color; yes friends, the 1980s! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Stripes using this color palette remind me of the 80's mixtapes. Remember when a song came on the radio and you pressed play and record at the same time but of course, the DJ, was always talking at the beginning of the song.. UGH! Oh, what we had to endure as kids.

I colored swatches on a piece of scrap paper in the same colors as the stripes. I then die-cut the stars and hearts using the swatches. This way I had a perfect color match between elements.

The cassette tape is popped off the page by dimensional tape to give it a more realistic look. Another element is the piece of acetate where you see the tape. Remember winding up your cassette with a pencil?

Rainbow Feathers

Hello my CMHCD friends,

As some of you know peacocks are my favorite animals. They are colorful and full of attitude which is what I love about them! They seem to act like they own the world and have the feathers to prove it! The inspiration picture isn't a photo of course but it does illustrate the magnificence of this creature. I saw this stamp on clearance and couldn't add it to my cart fast enough. I love the image, sentiment, and its potential for color.

This was stamped on watercolor paper. This paper is very coarse and lumpy for stamping. I have to stamp several times to get a clear image. In this case, however, I embraced the inconsistent stamping. When I was done brushing on the color I came in with a black Copic and colored the center with some true black. The outer edges were left with partial stamping. I left it because it added a sense of dreaminess and wonder.

When I was done adding color I added a few white dots with a gel pen and some black dots in groups of three around the edges and in the middle of the image. I think it added interest and whimsy.

This has to be one of my favorite techniques; colored pencil on dark cardstock. This was stamped direct on paper and then colored using my waxy colored pencils.

However, before I add the color I used an aqua pen and white pigment to paint in the areas I was going to use the color. It created a truer hue, saturation, and less colored pencil application. I just love all the colors popping off the dark cardstock. It really makes for a fantastic effect.

After coloring the images I noticed its waxy texture took out some of the sharpness of the stamped image. No problem! I kept the stamp in my MISTI from the first time I stamped it. All I had to do was put the base right back in and restamp it. After stamping it again the image was clean and crisp.

Well, thank you again for taking the time out of your busy day to visit my corner of the internet. I do hope you will join us at Color My Heart Color Dare and play along.
