Superstitious

Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with The Card Concept, Double D, Sunday Stamps, and Color Hues card challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy and have a good laugh.

The clover centered in the gray area was stamped and then masked off. It was then ready for background stamping. The clover and its sentiment are one red rubber stamp that I divided into two separate stamps. This way I didn't have to worry about residual ink getting where it doesn't belong. 😊

I stamped the clover background twice. Once in light gray ink, then masking the light area, I stamped the rest in black ink. I removed both masks and ended up with a nice one layer card.

I wanted to keep the card relatively flat. I knew I wanted to add layers like the gold trim and sentiment. The sentiment was stamped using white pigment ink only on dark brown cardstock.

Challenges Entered:

Color Hues: #59-Green and Gold
Double D Challenges: Everything is Coming Up Green
Sunday Stamps: SSC304 Sketch Time!
The Card Concept: #190- Lucky Charm

It is bad luck to be superstitious. I guess... It may depend on your outlook or what you have been brought up to believe, no matter how silly. For instance, I will never walk under a ladder! I know it's silly but well... You never know. Right? 😒

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes are headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day.

Message in a Bottle

 Hello Everyone!

I have a very special post today because I am the guest designer for Color Hues! I just adore color challenges and this blog is absolutely no exception. I am so happy to be their guest designer! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

For me, the challenge from Color Hues screamed Ocean and Beach. So, I pulled out my Stamp Peddler (formally Peddler's Pack) stamp collection and came right to this image.
Stamp Peddler's images are so realistic and the stipple on the image makes shading a breeze.

Guest Designing at Color Hues!
So happy to be here again.

I colored the image using bristol paper and alcohol markers. Wow! The bristol really made a difference when mixing media. I used alcohol markers over the entire image but then used multiple wax-based colored pencils in tan. It gave the aged quality I wanted and remained within the confines of the color challenge. After learning more about Brisol I learned I used the perfect paper! Lucky me and lesson learned.

I love the idea of a message in a bottle. The message in a bottle concept is so romantic, so random, but fated to find the right person. That is why I picked this sentiment. I foiled it using dark copper.

Thank you to Color Hues for having me this fortnight. I adore color challenges and was so happy when they asked me to be their guest.

And thank you, my reader, for stopping by my little byte of the internet. If you aren't already a follower I invite you to consider it. I share designs, techniques, and thoughts about well.... whatever is on my mind.

So, join me as we all embark on our crafting journey together at TheGrandStampede. I hope you all have a fantastic day and lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. Stay safe and healthy!!

Egg Hunt

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Color Hues. I have never attempted a 'double Z fold' before so I thought I would try it for this egg hunt card. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This double-Z fold card is the perfect kind of card for what I wanted to accomplish. I had inspiration from well.... Pinterest (here). I really liked the idea of an egg hunt card but instead of a flat card front I thought I would layer it up a bit more with the double-Z fold. Each part of the 'z' reveals eggs that are hidden when the card of folded.

I had to hold the card shut for this photo and I think it illustrates nicely the eggs hidden within the grass. I used various pink patterned papers (say that five times fast!) and egg sizes for interest.

This is a good photo of the double z-fold in action. Lots of eggs leading to the back where there is ample room to write a message.

The card completely opened up shows the extent of the egg hunt scene. I didn't forget about the back of the card. Each layer has another egg over top to cover up the back of the patterned paper. Both sides look nice and finished. The eggs that extend out beyond the fold nestle nicely into the card.

Challenges Entered:
Color Hues: Game #38- Pink and Green

One fish, Two fish...

 Hello Everyone,

For today I will be playing along with Time Out Challenges and Color Hues. I love this color combo and thought I would join in the fun. So here is my card for today, enjoy!

Of all the fish in the sea.... The message is simple as is this one-layer card. I started with a turquoise card base. Placed a sunray stencil and brushed it with white pigment ink to create the sun rays. I also added a bit of turquoise at the bottom of the card stock for a sense of depth.

The fish were stamped using Abandoned Coral Oxide ink. I added layers of colored pencils to highlight the fish and the area around them.

Another picture of the fish and some of the added layers.

Challenges Entered:

Color Hues: TCH #24- Turquoise & Coral

Time Out Challenges: #125- Colored Card Base

It's All Black & White

Hello Everyone,

Today I am happy to announce to be the guest designer at Color Hues. This challenge is about the absence and entirety of color or black and white. So, without further ado here is my card today, enjoy!

This card looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. You know what, that is why I love it. It is cosmic and strange. It looks like an amazing view in zero gravity.  It will be perfect for someone someday.

The geometric background was done by dry embossing a die-cut that was inked with white pigment ink. I added white sripple inside the shapes to look like stars.

I thought I would use this sentiment that came with the set (very unusual for me) but with St. Patrick's day around the corner I thought it was appropriate. You also get a close look at the dry inked embossing that done using a die-cut.

Thank you to Color Hues for having me this fortnight. I adore color challenges and was so happy when they asked me to be their guest.

Teacups

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Color Hues. The teacup image is actually recycled from another card. I wasn't too happy with the last card so I pulled it apart for scraps (I sound like a junkyard for cars). So, I saw this challenge and knew how to recycle the image. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Peachy Green

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Color Hues. I just received the Altenew Craft-a-Rose die set. Takes a bit getting used but I think I may have gotten the hang of it. Well, you can be the judge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

In the Northern Hemisphere Spring is in the air and with it comes flowers and colors! Oh, sweet color! Something I haven't seen in forever! This card is a good illustration of Spring by using a single colorful rose on an inked embossed background.

The embossing folder was inked using the color Pesto by Ranger. It adds just enough texture to the dots to stand out. I simply love that embossing folders are coming back in vogue.

The 'hugs' diecut was cut three times and then stacked on top for dimension. I taped down the sentiment and added an ombre peach to the diecut.

Blue Ridge Mountains

 Hello Everyone!

Today I will be playing along with The Male Room, Stamping Sensations, and a new challenge, Color Hues. These challenges combine two of my favorite things- Color and Outdoors! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

My sister-in-law was traveling back from her daughter's soccer tournament when she just happened upon this view! Incredible! I used it as inspiration for this card. Who wouldn't?

What I really liked about the picture was its panoramic nature. I used roughly one-third of the panel to give it the panoramic look. The sentiment is meaningful because my husband always says something to this extent when we hike. Good mantra!

The colors of that shot really inspired me to create this card. The mountains were done by masking, sponging, and colored pencil for smoothness. I wanted to give it some extra sense of dimension so I scored the outline of the mountains with an Exact-O blade. I also stamped the clouds using both an Altenew and Hero Arts cloud stamps.
