Bookish

Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Mod Squad, and The Sisterhood of Crafters Challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

One layer card stamped using sky and a word background as a backdrop.

The book stamp is a retired PTI layering stamp. It took a few tries but in the end, it worked and it looks well..... like a book!čśĆ

I stamped the flowers in the book and lightly added soil by coloring around the flowers with colored pencils. You never know where books will take you.

Totally Mod

 Hello All,

For today I am will be playing along with Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Can CAS be a layered card? Well, I have argued this in the past and I say 'yes'; A layered card can CAS. In this case, the elements are simple, graphic, minimal and all the while leaving lots of white space.

I simply die-cut these retroelements and placed them on the card per FMS. The color scheme from Color Throwdown is what inspired its retro vibe.

Again clustered, simple elements create a nice clean graphic for the any occasion card.

Pretty Pink Poppies

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with Cupcake Inspirations, Shopping Our Stash, Watercooler Wednesday, and Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenges! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This card has a patterned paper base that was white with embossed areas. I thought it might resist like any heat embossed image you do by hand. And of course, I was correct. Not a huge stretch I know, but I was curious. I am inspired to use more patterned paper. I have a boat ton of it and need to slim down. That is until I see a paper pad I cannot live without. čśĆ

The poppies are from Altenew- Craft-a-Flower series. The entire design is feminine with shades of coral and mauve. I think the geometric brushed background is what gives it a modern feel.

The sentiment is from a retired SU set. I stamped on a dark, almost black, brown and heat embossed it the color of coral; not the traditional white I usually use.

All the best,

Flowers in Vases

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with The Card Concept, Shopping our Stash, Watercooler Wednesday, and Addicted to Stamps and More! challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The vases remind me of a dish pattern my mother-in-law likes to collect. It is called Liberty Blue. It also reminds me of a pattern primarily on fabric called toile. Both have ornate floral, pastoral, or historic scenery. I wanted to depict those elements on my card.

I stamped a retired SU stamp of florals on the background in graphite gray. This is the same floral pattern I used on the vases. I thought it depicted the toile fabric.

The flowers are from the My Monthly Hero Arts kit, January 2019. Nothing fancy to die-cut the flowers and brush on some color. I think it adds balance to all that is going on with the design. The strip sentiment mimics the same color as the background.

Mosaic Rose

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Double D, Shopping Our Stash, and Addicted to Stamps and More Challenges. There was lots of inspiration! So, here is my card for today, enjoy!

This card has a patterned paper base that was white with embossed areas. I thought it might resist like any heat embossed image you do by hand. And of course, I was correct. Not a huge stretch I know, but I was curious. You can see the reflection from the patterned paper on the card. I love the lacy and mosaic look of the resist.

I dry-fit the rose for the placement of the DI ink. I brushed on Barn Door and Peeled Paint for the rose. I then distressed the background with a bit of Tattered Rose and a smidge of Vintage Photo.

I die-cut the retired SU rose 4x and stacked them on each other for dimension. I added a coral heat-embossed Mother's Day sentiment onto wood patterned paper.

Feathered Birthday

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with AAA Birthday and Alphabet Challenge. I created quite an unusual mini slimline card featuring a feather. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I have been inspired lately to use my existing patterned paper. So I dug through my stash and found this, not so old, paper pack that depicted feathers and flamingos. I thought this die cut would be a perfect way to use up some paper.

This is the classic inlay technique. Taking pieces from other patterned paper and laying them in the openings to create a retro color aesthetic.

I slightly curved the sentiment to match the curve of the feather. I embossed the sentiment in coral to match the color scheme of the card.

This is showing the back and how it is hinged. Just scored the back feather on top and glue it above the scoreline to create a card.

Colored Road Trip

 Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Cardz for Guyz. I used a medium that I haven't used in years, crayons! I used a digi image from Dr. Digi's. It was such a fun image I thought that using anything but crayons was unmentionable. Anyway, here is my card for today, enjoy!

This mini slimline card is the perfect size for this image. It seems to bring attention to the enormous amount of luggage on top of the VW!

I colored the van to be a bit shabby like it has been on the road for far too long.

Mostly, I love this sentiment. Which by the photo below I need to take to heart.

Yellow Umbrellas

 Hello All,

Today I am playing along with INKspirational and Double D Challenges. Yellow and gray aren't my favs but that is exactly the reason why I wanted to try this challenge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This card is designed with a metal stencil from Spellbinders (I think). I can envision a crowded city street while it's raining. Can you imagine... Crowds!!

The stencil was taped down over a sheet of dark gray cardstock. I used tinted embossing paste that was mixed with shades of yellow. I then added a thin sheet of paste to the stencil to give an ombre look. After it was dry I went back and carved the ribs of the umbrella for more texture and consistency.

After carving, I used a gray ink pad and lightly spread the ink over the paste at an angle to create a sense of rain. You can imagine pools of water washing over umbrellas. I colored between the umbrellas with a lighter shade of gray for contrast.

Challenges Entered:

INKspirational: Challenge 237 - Taxi Picture
Double D Challenges: April Showers
