Flocking Flamingos

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with The Color Throwdown, Just Us Girls, and their collaborator, Time Out Challenge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The background was stamped from colored cardstock creating a tone-on-tone effect. I then pounced the stamping ink on the panel and used a white pencil to highlight the flowers and its leaves.

Then sentiment was stacked 3x for dimension.
I also popped the hibiscus at the same level as the sentiment.

The cardstock was also textured which brought some challenges. The ridges were especially apparent with the white highlights. However, in the end, it added enough texture.

Foiled Again!

Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Just Us Girls, Double D, and Color Throwdown challenges.

This card marries the elegant and the whimsical beautifully. The pearly alcohol eggs are the perfect segue between the two.

Above: The background of flowers is a leftover piece from a previous project. It has been laying on my craft table for a few months. I thought this card would be the perfect opportunity to use it. Left/Below: The pearl alcohol inks shine along with the foiled pattern on the eggs. Right/Bottom: This shot shows the eggs not in the light. It shows more of the alcohol coloring on the eggs.

Challenges Entered:

Color Throwdown: ctd688
Double D Challenges: Easter Challenge
Just Us Girls: Trend Week #627: Foil on Alcohol Inked Cards

I was astonished when I foiled on Yupo paper! I thought there was no way it was going to work. The Yupo paper will surely melt or at least warp. But no! It was beautiful, especially with the pearly inks alongside the gold foiling. I now have a new way to use my supplies and it is all thanks to these challenges.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes are headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Easter Basket

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with Just Us Girls and INKspirational. Easter is right around the corner so I thought I would get started on my cards. Here is one of them for today, enjoy!

There are lots of curves and embossing that created this card. The basket was embossed using a weave pattern. The top of the basket was cut then folded for texture. I think it leaves a softer edge. The bow was die-cut and then embossed to leave a bow impression on the luster cardstock.

Above: The background has a subtle pattern to compliment the curvy shape of the eggs. Below/Left: All the texture was achieved using a mix of embossing folders and shimmery cardstock. Bottom/Right: Extra embellishments were added such as die-cut grass placed in between the eggs and the sentiment tag that is part of a larger die-cut premade sheet.

Challenges Entered:
Just Us Girls: Challenge #623- Trend Week - Embossing Folders
INKspirational: Challenge #260 - Word Prompt - Curve

One Layer Serenity

 Hello,

For today I will be playing with Just Us Girls. You gals hit is out of the park with this color combination. It happens to be one of my favs! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This scene was created using multiple stamp sets and some masking. The mountains and sun were from one stamp. I masked them off to create the orange sky that was brushed on using DI inks- Carved Pumpkin and Spiced Marmalade.

The trees in the foreground were stamped with dark brown. The same ink was also used for the sentiment and for the trees farther back.

I stamped the mountain scene using Contour Ink from HA. This gave me a light outline of where I could come in with color. The sun rays are highlighted using a colored pencil in a feather motion. The mountains were also stamped and colored using a teal colored pencil.

Bird on White

 Hello All,

Today I am playing along with The Paper Players and Just Us Girls. It has been warm in Michigan so I thought let's prove Punxsutawney Phil wrong and welcome Spring early! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The bird, a sign of Spring.
This one came with a layering and diecut set. The branches were directly stamped on the cardstock along with the sentiment.

The diecut lattice above the bird adds a bit of texture to the card.

The sentiment is stamped using two stamp sets. Each stamp is stamped in a different color, each with different fonts that add to the card and ties in the color combination from the bird.

Starry Dream

 Hello All,

I usually don't like to commit to a New Years' resolution but this year I thought maybe I will try one. I subscribe to the Hero Arts Monthly Kit. I love each one but somehow never use them. So it is my resolution to create three cards using the kit. I started with the January kit and created three cards. One of which I would like to share today! I also will be entering the card into Just Us Girls. Enjoy!

This is from the January 2022 kit and August 2017 kit. I thought both went together magically to create this shadowbox card. I learned how to make these cards by watching a tutorial from Jennifer Mcguire. Click here to watch the video.

This shadowbox card is a perfect example of foreground, midground, and background.
The background is my favorite with shades of orange creating the sky full of stars and a boy sitting on the moon. I brushed on DI Carved Pumpkin, Spiced Marmalade, and a dash of Vintage Photo at the bottom to create the setting for this magical card.

The branch fit nicely at the midground of the shadowbox.
The best part is that fits in an A2 envelope!
Genius!

Winter Wonderland

 Hello All and Happy Winter!!,

Well at least if you are in Northern Hemisphere. For those in the Southern part of our world happy Summer. I happen to live in the Northern Hemisphere which means it is freezing out. I mean it literally for it was a high of 19 degrees Fahrenheit. Brrrr... So this card seems very appropriate for this time of year. I am playing along with Just Us Girls, Sunday Stamps, Double D, and Papercraft Challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!!

It is also my daughter's 16th birthday this month! I made this card for her.

The background is actually a frosty snowflake scene. I thought it was the perfect backdrop for this wintery card. The snowflake cover die comes with two dies- one to cuts the snowflakes and the other die-cut pierces the dots within the snowflakes. Each die can be purchased separately.

All the silvery goodness is patterned silver paper with striations. It adds the right amount of texture. The snowflake is cut from the same paper pad as the frosty light blue snowflake paper. The sentiment came from the same paper pad.

Challenges Entered:
Just Us Girls: #615- Color Week
Sunday Stamps: SSC274- Split in Two
Papercraft Challenges: Challenge #77- Winter Winterland
Double D Challenges: Blue and White Winter

Sugar Skull

Hello All,
For today I will be playing along with Just Us Girls, Addicted to Stamps and More!, and Cupcake Inspirations. I decided to go with Sugar Skulls for the Halloween challenge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This sugar skull die has a ton of tiny leaves, flowers, and sprigs. Seems daunting at first but then (like a lot of you) got inspiration from Jennifer McGuire. Instead of die-cutting each element a different color you should die cut everything all at once white and then color the pieces. Still a bit tedious but much faster than die-cutting each die a different color. I used washi tape to hold all the little pieces together and die-cut them together. Genius!!
Click on the link HERE to view her video showing ways to use your little die-cuts

Bright and vibrant colors are typical for sugar skull design.
To learn more about the culture surrounding sugar skulls click HERE.

Lots and lots of layers showing the crown of the sugar skull. Also, notice the holographic paper in the backdrop. That was a failed attempt to foil a negative space image on black CS. I still liked how it turned out and decided to use it for this project.

Challenges Entered:
Cupcake Inspirations: Challenge #529- ATG
Just Us Girls: #604 - Word WeekAddicted to Stamps and More!: Challenge #415 - Die Cuts and/or Stencils

Halloween is a very interesting holiday. It is the only day of the year where you can dress up as silly as you'd like; go door-to-door and ask for candy. Any other time of year it would be criminal. Strange!

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes are headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.
