Promises

Hello Everyone,

I hope this message finds all of you safe and healthy. I know we need to open up which rattles my nerves a bit but, that is not why I am here. I am here to enter my card into CAS Watercolour Challenge and CAS(E) this Sketch. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Lots of color laid down to create this night sky. I got this technique from Kristina Werner. She taught me to use a simple Crayola watercolor set into a night sky.
If you haven't seen any of her videos I invite you to check it out. She will not disappoint.

After the color layer was completely dry I started adding the black around the edges and then slowly going inward. Plus, the paper warped just a bit to create a darker edge. Oh, I love those happy mistakes! I think her technique was effective.

This was probably the hardest part of the card was choosing a sentiment that fit the bill for such a pretty sky. I ran across this and thought it would be perfect. I used Versamark black and the MISTI to stamp it a few times to get the maximum black color on the card.

H2O Maple Leaf

Hello All,

For today I am entering challenges from CAS Watercolour Card ChallengeHere is my card for today. Enjoy!

The leaf was traced from a maple leaf stencil. I traced the inside of the leaf in a pen and the outside with a pencil. When the watercolouring was done I would fussy cut around the pencil lines and erased the guidelines.
I watercoloured each section of the leaf a different colour. I wanted to stay in keeping of the natural color of a maple leaf.
Autumn is filled with texture, and so I thought I would put a bit of texture in the form of an embossing folder. The birch trees provide just the right amount this design needed. You will see too I ripped the paper from the upper left corner at a 30-degree angle. This way the tree embossing will not intrude on this beautiful leaf.

Sunflower Delight

Hello!

Today I am playing along with Freshly Made Sketches, CAS Watercolour Challenge, and The Paper Players. So here is my card for today, enjoy!

The sunflower stamp is a retired SU stamp. I stamped the sunflower using very light Wild Hare ink by Colorbox. The detail of the stamp shows through the watercolor giving it beautiful texture and dimension.
The center of the sunflower was done by watercoloring the center using a stipple effect. giving the impression of seeds. The absolute center was done using brown, yellow, and light green watercolor.
I know some of you may be thinking why on earth did I use a bright and cheery sunflower for a sympathy card. It is a time to reflect on the good times and times together with the departed. I think of it as a celebration of life.

Pearl Jellyfish

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with CAS Watercolour Card Challenge, Hand Stamped Sentiments, and CASology. Jennifer McGuire's video on Perfect Pearls was absolutely inspiring. So I decided to dust off my Perfect Pearls. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This background started black, white and gray.I had made it over a year ago and thought it would look nice on a future card. ( why would throw anything away.)  I used Distress Ink to sponge on blue and green throughout creating the watercolor. Quickly I added iridescent purple Perfect Pearls before the ink and water had time to dry. The ocean needed movement and thought this cover panel would be perfect.
Above: So I watched a card video with Jennifer McGuire (My husband called it card porn. 😂) She demonstrated lifted the powder with VersaMark ink on the stamp. It left an amazing negative space! Click here to see her video.  One little detail I forgot, not set it first. So it kind of worked.  I had to clear heat emboss them because it needed a bit more definition. Left/Below: This shot is taken in the light. It changed the entire ocean scene to a shimmery water scene. Right/Bottom: After clear embossing the little creatures I thought it needed a bit more glow. So, I sponged over the embossed images with white pigment ink. The effect is amazing!

Rainbow Daisy

Hello Everyone,

Today I am going to be playing along with The Paper Players and CAS Watercolour Challenge. I have more flowers stamps than any other in my stash, so better use them right? Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Watercolor panel adhered to white cardstock and one stamped sentiment.
Quick and easy.
Lots + Lots of color đŸ˜€ and white space.
One very colorful image surrounded by beautiful white space.
I think the white area allows the color to really pop.

I used ZIG watercolor brushes, an aqua pen, and cold press watercolor paper.
Stamped the image colored the petals and middle in rainbow colors.

Spread out the color using an aqua pen for a gradient effect.
Dabbed off some color to enhance the ombre effect even more.

Rainbow Shimmer

Hello Everyone,

Today I would like to throw my hat into the CAS Watercolour Card Challenge. Rainbows are my absolute fav! My childhood room was themed all in rainbows- rainbow comforter, rainbow pillows with rainbow accessories, rainbow drapes, and finally, rainbow dressers! Oh yes, audience, the rainbow was my thing. That is why I was so happy to see this challenge at CAS Watercolour! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The 'frame' was made from water mixing with the paint and then
blotted away using a paper towel.
Like most pearlescent paint, it is the way the light hits the paint that will change its entire look. This is no exception. In the light, it is vivid with an iridescent texture. The paint out of the light enchants you with shimmer and color. Two very different outcomes using light as a medium.

I made this picture extra large to capture the shimmer of the paint.
The end product is so delightful, it makes me smile.

H2O Leaves

Hello Everyone,

For today I am going to be playing along with CAS Watercolour Challenge. I have been procrastinating all month but here it is, my card for today, enjoy!

This card was created using a large leaf stencil (below). I inked the stencil using multiple Autumnal colors Distress Inks. Then I misted the watercolor paper with water and laid down the stencil. Afterwards, I lightly misted it again to allow the color to spread a bit more.

This card was easy to create and also easy to replicate.

I decided to take a brown stamp pad and run it along the edges of the panel creating a fine and slightly distressed border.
A few gold luster embellishments were added to compliment the sentiment and add just a touch of flair.

Challenges Entered:
Happy 1st Birthday! Looking forward to many more years to come!!

Hibiscus

Hello Everyone,

Today I am going to enter several challenges- Curtain Call, CAS watercolour challenge, CAS on Friday and AAA Cards. All the challenges were so inspirational for this project. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

My salt technique is ever so subtle.
All I wanted to accomplish was the faint texture of sand.
A small simple sentiment goes nicely with the larger than life hibiscus.
I decided to reverse the Curtain Call photo and put the color in the background leaving the flower white. I think it really pops against these colors.
This teeny tiny flower might have missed your radar.
Masking with post it notes worked well this little flower. The rest of the flower was also masked off using repositionable adhesive from my Zyron. Rolled some paper through the machine so the back would have the adhesive. Stamped on it, fussy cut and placed it over the original.
 Challenges Entered:
Curtain Call: Hibiscus
CAS Watercolour: August 2017- Salt
AAA Cards: CAS Game- Masking
CAS on Friday: #115- One Layer Wonder

These flowers are so majestic and absolutely stunning! When discovering this flower I will usually stop and admire the sheer size of these things! And then there are the amazing variety of colors. Just awesome! Mother Nature sure knows what she's doing.

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon. Take care and happy stamping.

All the best,
Shawna

A single lily pad floating in the water.

Always makes for some beautiful effects.

with a stamped sentiment.
Challenges Entered:
