Magical Rainbow

Hello Friends!

For today I am playing along with Paper Craft Crew, Just Us Girls, and Tic Tac Toe Challenges! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

When I was a little girl, my room's decor was ceiling to floor rainbow!
Even as a teenager, I kept the rainbow theme. So, it was no stretch to create a card with all these wonderful AND sparkly colors.

I am low on thank you notes and needed to replenish my stash. What better way to thank someone with lots of color.
The strips were a perfect way to use up my
ever so growing scrap paper.
Challenges Entered:
Paper Craft Crew: PCC283- Sketch Challenge
Tic Tac Toe Challenge: #tttc038
I chose Rainbow/Sparkle/Die Cuts
Just Us Girls: Trend Week #431- Mythical or Magical

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon. Take care and happy stamping.

Clear Challenge

Hello All!

I will be using one card to play many challenges tonight and act as an inspiration card for The House of Cards. I will also be playing along with ColourQ and Paper Craft Crew Challenge

Like the last post, my gracious team members at House of Cards allowed me some grace to submit my inspiration card a bit late. This month we are concentrating on clear papers. Here is my card for tonight, enjoy.

For the inspiration card I used vellum and acetate. The vellum is used right inside the acetate
so when a message is written you will not directly see through it thus distracting from the design.

'Watercolored' flower was colored using water-based
markers and an aqua pen to spread out the color.

Left: shows a close up of the flower and the amazing color combination.
Right: Here I am illustrating how the layers of acetate, vellum, and card base work together. The base of the card is a 12x12 piece of cardstock cut to 4 1/2" wide. I then folded CS in half to form a slot for the acetate and vellum to slip into creating the card.

Showing focal area detail.

Challenges Entered:
Colour Q: cQc #339

Interesting Fold

Hello Everybody!

For today I am playing along with the Paper Craft Crew Challenge Blog. Their sketch challenge was one that caught my eye! Here is my card for tonight, enjoy!

All these glorious colors make for a fantastic birthday card.
This card ordinary enough...
....Until you open it up! There is nothing ordinary about
this folded card!
Coloring the letters just adds to the fun of this card.
My up-line Patsy Waggoner from Stamps to Die For sent me the most wonderful Halloween card the other day. Cute witch beautifully colored and the 'web' dollie that I just drolled over. However, when I went to open the card I found that it had this fold. I thought it was so interesting and departs from the normal A2 size card. PCCC was the perfect challenge for this type card. Thanks for the inspiration!

Entering Challenge:

Colorful Fall

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with The Paper Players and Paper Craft Crew Challenge Blogs. Both blogs like to feature SU product which I just so happened to have a billion SU stamps on hand for both challenges (exaggerating, kind of). Here is my card for tonight. Enjoy.

Entering challenges:

  Paper Craft Crew Challenge 168. #papercraftcrew #cardsketch

Autumn colors everywhere using primerly SU product both
current and retired.
Visual texture is so prevelent on this card. In this detail picture
you will find plaid, checks, paisleys and realistic leaves. Somehow
it all seems to work together quite nicely.
I know I sound like a broken record but I just love Autumn! All the color the smell of leaf pile fires is so nice. But sadly we have to say goodbye to fall too soon.. It is really too bad it is such a short season because it is so pretty. Then again is it so bad. If Autumn just hung around I think we may start to take it for granted like most things we interact with on a daily basis. Maybe Autumn is trying to tell us something?

Well I am done for tonight. I hope you have a great day and please if you feel inclined to leave a comment it will certainly be appreciated. Take care all and see you soon.

All the best,
Shawna

By the Sea

Hello Readers,

For today I am playing along with Paper Craft Crew Challenge and Create with Connie and Mary. The inspiration that came from these two incredible challenges were thought provoking and didn't turn out the way I thought.. It turned out better! Enjoy!

The sky and interior of the room follows the color challenge
from Create with Connie and Mary.
The flowers are thought to be sent for the recipient.
Entering the following challenges:

CCMC376  PCCCS 161-204-002

The sea theme is consistant throughout the card.
Lost Lagoon was used in the sea stars and ocean.
The sky is kind of dark with a white horizon line that melts into
Lost Lagoon is so pretty and true.
I can actually smell the sea looking at this card.. You can imagine some clouds coming in but some of the sunshine is lighting up the horizon white. I used my Lost Lagoon ink pad and an aqua pen to create the ocean scene; and finished it off using a white gel pen for detail. As I didn't have Perfect Plum or Tip Top Taupe I tried to match them with what I had on hand.

Well that should do it for me.. I hope you enjoyed your stay and want to thank you so much for spending time with TheGrandStampede.. Please leave any comments you would like good, great, or otherwise.. Thank you again and we will see you soon!

All the best,
Shawna

Color, Color, Color...

Hello again!

Okay, so I go from not a peep for a week to two posts today. I guess when it rains it pours. Speaking of weather I am noticing Spring is springing. Well, at least in the card world and I am no exception.

I had this card in my brain for awhile now when I saw the theme for Paper Players #234- Think Spring. Then I saw the sketch challenge for the Paper Craft Crew card sketch #134 (PCCCS #134).  My gears were turning with ideas! I also saw the challenge from Shopping our Stash (SOS #191) to use your oldest hardware; well, I am in. The silver clouds are flowers that I cut in half. I bought those probably 11 years ago! Just married, no kids, in our apartment with all the money in the world to spend. HA! Those were the days!

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch 134 #stampinup #papercraftcrew #papercrafts #cardchallenge   Shopping Our Stash Weekly Challenge Blog

The stars aligned and all these wonderful challenges spawned today's card. I love the cheery and graphic nature of this design! All the patterned papers work cohesively together to form this very springy and bright card.

Clouds were bought 11 years ago! Yikes! Time to use them.
Card size: A2- 4.25" x 5.5"
The sun and cloud flap opens up
to a colorful rainbow.
Opening up again to blank space
Perfect for a personal note.
The sketch from Paper Craft Crew along with the theme from The Paper Players automatically reminded me of sunny and colorful tri-fold card. Using the sketch for an example, I used the clouds and sun for the flap which then opens up to a nice cheery rainbow. This leaves the inside of the card blank.

All the items were pieced together using a motley of papers I had laying around. The colors, I believe, are perfect for spring and sends the message of a new beginning. The sentiment is ideal for the recipient who is just getting back on her feet.. She is on her way up again and I think this card will definitely give her the encouragement she needs.

Well that is all for now. Thank you again for stopping by and please don't forget to leave me a comment. They make my day a bit more, well, cheery!

All the best,
Shawna

Shaker Thank You Card

Hello Again!

I hope this posting finds you all well on this first workday of the New Year.  As promised I have decided to enter into not one but two challenges today. I have a lot of Stampin' Up! stuff so these challenges all involve mostly all their product..

One of the challenges I am entering is  The Paper Craft Crew Sketch #125- PCCCS125. The sketch immediately reminded me of a shaker card.  So used some dots for the background and glitter to shake and then adhered a Stampin' Up! Sizzix 'thank you(s)' die cut on top of the clear window. Grunge splatters seem to extend the glitter. The sentiment I thought would be perfect for my neighbor. 'Thank You & Thank you (kind doer of good deeds).

CCMC336 - Color Challenge by Create with Connie and Mary.  I just love the color palette. It reminds me of Valentines Day. However, I didn't go there! I went in an entirely different direction! And here it is!!

Thank you
Thank You (kind doer of good deeds)

Thank you & Thank You (kind doer of good deeds)

The white die cut 'thank you' goes well with the colored dots.

Close up view to show all the dimension on this card.
I really enjoyed making this card. Together the sketch and color palette really just made the ideas flow out and onto paper.

Here are the sets I used all Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:
MANY THANKS Thank You Sizzix Sizzlits Die by Stampin' Up!
Box of Dots - Hero Arts
Framelits Die and Clear Acrylic Stamp Set - Banners 2 - Sizzix

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Have a great day everyone and see you soon!!
