Bountiful Flowers

 Hello my CMHCD friends,

I'm a bit late but another challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare as started. For this challenge, you need to choose three colors from our color blocks. I chose to use Raspberry, Grape, and Cinnamon. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

We are all missing someone these days. I certainly am so I wanted to make a card to let someone I know I'm thinking of them. A cheery Autumn bouquet to lift the recipient's spirits.

Now for our challenge!

I chose Raspberry, Grape, and Cinnamon

Two simple pearl embellishments bookmark the sentiment. So fitting.

This is an old set from PTI. I would say it is the precursor to the layering sets that are all the trend right now. Every color you see was aligned and then stamped. Some stamping was more successful than others. 😁 Overall, I feel this card was a success.

Well, thank you again for taking the time out of your busy day to visit my corner of the internet. I do hope you will join us at Color My Heart Color Dare and play along.

Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and stay healthy. Until then take care and we will see you soon!

Strange Thing...

 Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Fusion card challenge. I decided to work on the photo inspiration and loosely based the design on the sketch. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Upon a full moon, there is a spooky house with some guests to come for a frightful visit.

The moon was done by stamping away the mica powder with VersaMark Ink using the solid circle. I then just followed the layers using pigment white ink. When the ink was still wet I purposely smudged it using my finger to give it the appearance of shining through some atmospheric fog. The house and moor were created similarly by stamping away the mica powder using VersaMark ink. I also added some shadowing on the house to show a reflection of the glowing moon.

This pic shows a lot of what makes this card special. Firstly, the mica powder shimmer throughout the card. Secondly, the sentiment and the ghosts are both designed to be translucent. The sentiment was stamped using pigment white ink. When dried it shows through to the background just like the vellum ghosts.

Sepia Neighborhood

  Hello Everyone,

Today I am proud and thrilled to be one of the guest designers at The Color Throwdown! Their color challenge is all about neutrals. This week's color combo is Kraft, Cream, and Cranberry.  This card was so much fun to create! So, without further ado, here is my card for today, enjoy!

I wanted the suggestion of coziness and the warmth of home. Home to me is a place where I don't have to ask to see what is in the frig. It is a place where I take off my shoes to expose the holes in my socks. Most importantly, it is a place where love lives and for that, I am so grateful.

The neighborhood was stamped in sepia and colored using polychromo pencils in colors cranberry, cream, and kraft. This wasn't intentional but the colors set the scene for nostalgia- like an old photograph you would find at grandma's house. The trees above the homes and the doghouse stamped using the masking technique.

The sentiment is what sparked the neighborhood scene. I chose houses that were a bit 'gingerbread-y' to stay with the Christmas vibe of the card. Also, I gently distressed the edges of the wood and neighborhood panel for some color and definition.

Well, that is all for me!! I want to thank The Color Throwdown Challenge again for this amazing opportunity to be their guest designer for this challenge. I also want to thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to join me at TheGrandStampede. If you are new to my blog, please consider following me to get all my postings. If you are so inclined to leave a comment and let me know how I am doing, that would be great too.

I hope you all have a fantastic day and lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. More importantly, please stay safe and healthy!!

All the best,

Arachnid Shaker

 Hello Again!

For today I will be playing along with The Color Throwdown and Animal Friends Challenge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The card started with a white cardstock base. I had this cute and very neglected washi tape to use as a stripey backdrop. Added a black frame, acetate, and spider. I propped it up using some dimension tape and inserted some sequins to finish it off.

I decided to leave the card sentiment-less.
Well not really the washi tape did the job for me.

The spider was an adhesive precut die so it was as easy as peeling off the backing off the spider and sticking him on the card.

Deco Lady

 Hello All,

Today I am playing along with Freshly Made Sketches. This is another take using the same stencil and the same technique as my last deco post. There are just a few differences that I will explain later. Here, is my card for today, enjoy!

The background is similar to my last post but this time I liberally inked up white cardstock with DI Tattered Rose. The sandwich I used on my machine- From bottom to top: main plate/bottom plate/cardstock/stencil/baby wipe/top plate.

The color of the base, sentiment strip and our lady's hat is a blue/gray. I think the colors in this card are so pretty together. The flower behind the lady was fussy cut from DP. It seemed fitting.

You can see the indentation the stencil created. Also, you will notice the color difference. The DI reacts with the moist baby wipe. I will use this technique, again and again, so pretty!

Deco Bleach

 Hello All,

Today I am playing along with Freshly Made Sketches. This monochromatic was created using bleach and a stencil. I will explain in a bit. First, is my card for today, enjoy!

This stencil technique blew me away! It all starts with a baby wipe and DI ink. Add the DI ink to your card base place a stencil and then a baby wipe on the DI'ed cardstock; run it through a die-cut machine and you will have a textured piece of cardstock. The open spaces from the stencil will react to the wet baby wipe and leave a lighter version of the ink you added.

In this case, however, I spritzed the baby wipe with bleach and ran it through my machine using black cardstock. At first not too much and then as it dried my eyes started popping out of my head with amazement. The bleach took effect and turned into what you see now. Just beautiful!

You can see the impression it made on the cardstock.

Halloween Booty

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Inspire.Create.Challenges, Just Us Girls, and Just Add Ink. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I just love making Halloween cards.
This card an oldie from SU. I stamped the boot directly on the base. I masked the boot and stamped the web.

I flipped the sketch because I wanted to use the bat. It fits so well with the card. There wasn't a die for him so I used a trick to trace around he object you want to cut and then cut along the line. It takes out the guess work.

I used the mask of the boot to cut the glittery enamel dots and cut the dots along the mask. To my surprise, it was remarkably easy to do. I also added glossy accents to the strap on the shoe.

I flipped the sketch upside-down

Field of Dreams

 Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Stamping Sensations, ModSquad ChallengeShopping Our Stash, and Sunday Stamps. It is fall and with it comes pumpkin and apple picking, cider, and warm donuts. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This stamp set from the Hero Arts My Monthly Kit for September. It is a layering stamp set that, for me, takes a little getting used to perfect. I call this post Field of Dreams because the corn in the background reminds me of the movie. Or may Children of the Corn! I guess it depends on what mood you are in that day. 😂

The pumpkin patch really provides a sense of depth. The card is relatively symmetrical due to the tall clouds adorning the center. It seemed fitting to put the sentiment in the middle under the cloud to complete Its symmetrical appearance.

I must say the sky is the star of the show. The photo from SS inspired me to do an orange sky with some lighter elements. Here in the U.S. the midwest and west are known for its big sky. I wanted to delineate the big sky effect on this card.

You're Tweet

 Hello my CMHCD friends,

Today starts another challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare. These next two weeks we will have a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge for y'all. I chose to use Glacier/Silver/Avocado. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I started off with a silver cardstock, placed down my stencil, and added dye ink using the glacier and avocado colors. I heat set the ink and was left with a translucent glacier and avocado color shiny cardstock. Then I took off the stencil and nudged it over a bit and added some white acrylic paint all over the base. I again took off the stencil and there was a beautiful feather silhouette shadow.

I thought this sentiment and image from Close to My Heart- My Sunshine stamp set was a perfect complement to the abstract feathery background. I added four avocado color pearls for some embellishment.

I tied the card together by using the same silver cardstock around the outside of the oval as its base. You can see with the light directly on the card the luster of the silver.

Well, thank you again for taking the time out of your busy day to visit my corner of the internet. I do hope you will join us at Color My Heart Color Dare and play along.
