In the Water

Hello All

For today I am playing along with Create with Connie and Mary, Little Tangles and Colour Q. Their challenge this week is a sketch challenge... Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Ombre effect creating a sense of the ocean

The three strips of white seems to have a nautical feel

The seashells are just perfect for this card.

The sentiment is so cool and a happy accident. When I stamped it the sentiment
came out splotchy but then I thought it looked great. So I just colored the rest in with PrismaColor pencils.

This card reminds me of Seaside Florida. I have said it before but it is one of the most beautiful places. The blue of the water is just remarkable. The colors associated with this card brings back memories of Seaside on 30A! If you haven't been there I think it might be worth a Google search.. I think you will be impressed as I certainly am.. Now I get to look out my window at the gray day and snow... Spring is coming, spring is coming, spring is coming!!

Pretty in Pink...White & Gray

Hello Everyone,

For tonight I am playing along with Cupcake Inspiration, Little Tangles and again with Less is More. I can say I used my flourishes twice now.. Improvement.. Here is my card for tonight, enjoy!

I wanted the design to look Zentangle'ish and I am still undecided
whether it was a success or not.

Teardrops are from a retired stamp set from Stampin' Up!, flourish stamp is from Inkadinkado. The color inspiration works so nicely with the one layer card CAS design. I enjoy how it turned out.

I am unhappy to say that I am not the winner of the $1.5 billion dollar Powerball jackpot.. UGH! Well I did have a 2.92million to one chance of winning.. I guess you have to be in it to win it.. If 2.92million to one are my odds, well then, so be it.. You never know!! I just read you have more of chance of getting struck by lightening while drowning then hitting this jackpot! With that said if no-one wins tonight, I'm out... 20 bucks is too much to just throwaway. For that amount money I could have gotten a fantastic stamp set!

I am going to cash it in for tonight (get it?). Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to join me and I will see you soon.

Happy 'flip flopping' Mothers Day

Okay, I know it seems like I am being a horrible daughter; but wait!! Tonight I am playing along with Little Tangles and Curtain Call and I promise the title of this post will make much more sense.

See not so bad!! And here is my card...

This is the final product. The upper left of the card you
will see the CS is actually shimmery blue.

Perfect poem for Mothers Day.
Dry embossing the top with my Swiss Dots folder.
brings both the inside and outside together.

This card actually surprised me how well it turned out.. The watercolor panel is extra from another project and the flip-flops are rub-on images from my discount craft store. You can't really see it, but all the shoes are framed in a sketchy box heat embossed in white. The Swiss Dots embossing folder added a bit of texture to the design. Plus, the pattern matches the shoes patterns. The yellow border around the watercolor panel is very subtle but important. It brings out the yellow in the panel and also contrasts nicely with the crisp blue. These colors are all Summer! And like I have always said 'It is not Summer without flip-flops'.

Watercolor & Ampersand

Hello All,

This card was sent out as part of a card chain challenge called S.O.S. (Society of Stampaholics). There motto is very fitting 'Walking the fine line between hobby and obsession', HA! So funny because it is so true.

Then I saw the Little Tangles Challenge #53- watercolor and it all came together. The color challenge from S.O.S and watercolor from Little Tangles would make for a wonderful card. I thought the chain card challenge was a great idea so I sent this one out.

Well here it is.. I love love love the way this turned out and I hope the recipient does too.

The ampersand is actually a stencil which I inked up with Versamark Ink then laid it down applied pressure with my brayer so the ink would stick to the paper. Then heat embossed in white and used the resist technique to apply the watercolor. Wet the paper and apply color and let the water do the rest. They blended just beautifully but it wasn't enough, the ampersand needed to pop. So again, used resist technique and Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass, I think) and it seemed to have done the trick. Used the same ink and technique to distress edges of the card.

The single word sentiments seemed like a good fit! Done!! Well no, it still didn't look quite finished.. Hummmm... So I ask my nine year old daughter what I should do... She said to add some sparkle. OMG she is a genius!  So I got out my Stickles and colored in the word 'smile' and added just a bit of shine to the upper right and lower left of the card.. The sparkle was just enough to finish it off.

Oh my little crafter in training.. (Wiping a tear away).. So proud..
