Blueprint to Success

Hello Crafters!

For today I am going to be playing along with The Paper Players. It has been a while since I joined them and am so happy to join in the fun! So, here is my card for today, enjoy!

I wanted continuity in the design. All the elements seem to flow together nicely. And using the spotlight technique really brings a lot of visual interest.
Above: The sentiment is absolutely perfect for this card. It should because they are from the same set. The color red is striking against the cool color palette. Left/Below: I used the spotlight technique for this challenge. However, when I brought all the elements together they seem to have washed out the blocks. So I drew a shadow line around two sides of the block to create a bit of separation. Right/Bottom: Four of the six squares are raised using dimensional tape. The other two squares hold the red sentiment. All these elements combined create a distinct area of squares.

Scarf

Hello Crafters,

Ok so for today I am playing along with The Time Out Challenge and Creative with Stamps. I had to really think of a creative way to create a card that centers on the scarf. Well, today while at the dentist, I figured it out! I thought I would take a portion of the scarf and zoom in on the item. So that is what you will see today, enjoy!

So here it is, my version of a scarf, close up! It is the end of the scarf. It features fringes, binding, and a button. The cloth then folds on the top of the card.
Coming from the Eastcoast and now Midwest of the U.S. I can attest that I have at least six plaid scarves in my wardrobe. I actually have one that is red plaid in my stash.
Firstly, I started with a white sentiment that visually shot off the card. I then thought kraft paper would be perfect for this design. The little fringes were done using a pair of fringe scissors. A tool I don't use often, but when I need fringe for grass or fringe of any kind this is the go-to tool!

Here is a link to what I used.

Overwhelmed by Balloons

Hello Crafters,

For today I will be playing along with Just Add Ink and Double D Challenges. During the dreary days of winter here in the Midwest of the U.S., these bold colors are so welcomed! They don't call it the 'winter blues' for nothin'! More about that in future posts. For now here is my card for today, enjoy!

This card is full of balloons and colors! It is simply a digi from Bugaboo that was copied and with the magic of layers, the copied balloons were sent to the back of the image. It made for a very busy and festive scene.
Coloring the balloons was done with alcohol markers
and highlights using a white gel pen
The 'happy' die-cut was stacked three times on top of itself. I stamped 'birthday' on heavy CS paper and placed the die-cut between the base and the scrap. I felt it made this card more interesting and festive.

Unconventionally Sweet

Hello Everyone,

For today I am going to be playing with Color My Heart Color Dare. I know the holidays are over. As for me, I have seen enough green and red to last another 11 months. But CMHCD had this color challenge and I had a stamp that I have been wanting to try for quite some time. So, here is my card for today. Enjoy!

I first want to shout out to The Peddler's Pack!! They are the company who designed this fantastic stamped image. They closed their brick and mortar store and opened an Etsy shop called StampPeddler.
https://etsy.me/2RKoUWo
I have said it before and I'll say it again these stamps are amazing! They do the shading work for you with their meticulous stippling and always stamp clean and crisp.

So now I will get to my card, enjoy!!

This card could be for Christmas or Valentine's Day. I purposely used the 'sweetest' to mark its versatility. It is an unconventional card for both holidays but also works for both holidays.
I colored the candy-canes using Prismacolor pencils.
I have found that these colored pencils tend to gray out the stamped image.
So all I did was keep the stamp on my MISTI and when I was done coloring I stamped it again bringing back all the stippling. In combination with the coloring, it is really striking.
The mink background color allows the white in the candy-canes to pop off the card.
The sentiment 'you're the' is from Concord and 9th. The 'sweetest' is from Recollections. Both were stamped on white, 80lb. cardstock. Then finished off by two enamel black dots.
Challenges Entered:
I choose across: Sangria, Mink, New England Ivy

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. I hope you all have a fantastic day and lots of good crafting vibes headed your way.

Dotted

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with The Color Throwdown and Freshly Made Sketches. So, here is my card for today, enjoy!

Lots of beautiful colors!
The dotted stamp is an oldie from Hero Arts. I thought it would be a good take on the inspiration photo of the dotted wallpaper at The Color Throwdown.
The white color is so pretty against these colors. I believe it brings it all together.
The rose was stamped using Picked Raspberry DI. I tried my hand at line free watercolor using the color drawn from the stamped line and some ink that was applied using an aqua brush.
I have been big lately on breaking up sentiments. This is a perfect example, I used two different sentiments from two companies and came up with this.

The blue and green were applied using the ombre effect. I used the My Picket Fence brushes for the first time. I can say without a doubt these are the best brushes I have ever owned. It worth every penny! It makes blending a breeze.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. I hope you all have a fantastic day and lots of good crafting vibes headed your way.

Warm XOXO's

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with The Male RoomFreshly Made Sketches and, for the first time, the Rainbow Card Challenge. I have attached a ton of pictures for this post because I wanted to catch its texture, glitter, shine, and the layers that went into this card. So, here is my card for today, enjoy!

PS. My screen is showing tints of blue around the banner. There is no blue anywhere on this card. I think the computer editing software was picking up the gray on the banner.

Holy moly texture!
I was inspired by a pin on Pinterest that used vellum for snowflakes. There were a lot of snowflakes on top then cascaded down to the bottom progressing to very little snow. I thought it was beautiful and tried to CASE it. The pinner only used vellum for the snow but I decided to go all out with the texture. I added foam dots on top of a circle cutting plate that sits on top of a polka-dotted background.
The snowflake detail is just wonderful for this card. I adhered white cardstock on foam and then diecut the intricate framed snowflake. I think, however, the sentiment steals the show. 'Warm xoxo' is, at least in my mind, very romantic. I can envision a cold snowy night sitting warm and comfy with your significant other hugging and kissing and well... You can fill in the blanks.
I thought it would make for an unconventional Valentine's Day card.
Above: This shot shows the luster that comes into play. The flatness of the vellum to the glitter on the 'xoxo' shadow it all blends in nicely for this monochromatic card. Left/Below: As mentioned above I added lots of snow to the top of the card as you get closer to the bottom you see only random flakes. Reminiscent of the ombre effect. Right/Bottom: This gives you a good shot of the 'xoxo' sentiment. I diecut it twice, leaving one aside while the other one got some glitter treatment. The white piece was then placed on top and shifted a bit to expose its glittery shadow.

Gouache Flower

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with Just Us Girls and CAS(E) this Sketch. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I saw a pin on well... Pinterest showed a card with a flower stamped and then painted using gouache paint. I thought it was beautiful and had to see for myself how it would look on my creations.
Well, here we are, not too bad for a first shot.
Lots of white space show off the whites of the gouache paint on the flower. The 'love' sentiment was diecut from dark magenta foam with white cardstock on top. The effect is subtle, but I think it shows that the small touches make the card unique.

The background was done using the shaving cream technique. This background was done about three years ago. I loved the subtle swirls and gentle lines that it created. The flower needed a soft backdrop and this panel fit the bill perfectly.
