Encouraging

Hello All,

Today is my last post for Time Out Challenges as their guest designer. I would like to take this moment to thank them so much for all their wonderful 'encouraging' comments. I felt welcomed and honored to be part of such an amazing team. So without further ado, here is my card for today, enjoy!

I thought I would experiment with translucent silver Yupo paper that came as part of the Yupo paper packet. I used alcohol inks to lay some color down on the paper and used various techniques to achieve this eclectic look. I kept this background for a year'ish. and decided to use it for this challenge.

I used a feather die-cut which I thought would be perfect for this alcohol panel. I kept all the negative pieces from the feather die-cut and adhered them to the base of the card. I then took the feather and adhered it to the card using dimensional adhesive. This lifted the feather off the base and provided fantastic dimensional results.
I lost one of the negative pieces and thought it was ruined but then 'eureka' I used three-dot embellishments in its place. In fact, I think it is better and brings a bit of style.
Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend it with me. I do hope you will be able to join Time Out Challenges. For me, it was great fun and I am sure it will be for you. Also, I want to again thank my hosts at Time Out Challenges for their gracious hospitality!

Thank you all and I hope you have a fantastic day with lots of good crafting vibes headed your way.

Watercolor Dragonfly

Hello All,

Today I am playing along with Fusion and Just Us Girls. I love this card! It is full of glimmer and sparkle but not too intrusive to interfere with the design. Anyway, you be the judge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The watercolor panel was stamped using Distress Ink and Zig Markers. I then added water to dilute and spread the color around the dragonfly. I dried the panel to add more water to pick up some extra color. The Fusion sketch shows a large circle with a smaller circle. I decided to use the space of the smaller circle for the sentiment and embellishments.
Above: The background was stenciled using a Hero Arts stencil that came with one of their monthly kits. I usually do not like symmetry but in this case, the dragonfly image, embellishments, and sentiment seem to break up the symmetry very nicely. Below/Left:  You can see the shimmer in this photo very clearly. The wings, body, and eyes were painted using Pearl Ex. It gives it just the shine it needed again without being too intrusive. The background was stenciled using silver ink. Again giving the design just a bit of bling. Bottom/Right: The frames material consists of heavyweight watercolor paper. That is important because when I die-cut the frame it didn't cut all the way through 140lb paper; what a happy accident! Leaving the pieces intact gives the frame an embossed impression versus a die-cut with gaps. It also reflects the Art Deco pattern of the background.

Challenges Entered:
Fusion: Dragonfly
Just Us Girls: Week 509- Frame It!

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. I hope you all have a fantastic day and lots of good crafting vibes headed your way.

Feather Weight

Hello All,

For today I am entering challenges from CASology, Color Throwdown, and CAS Colours & Sketches. I have had this die cut for quite a while and wanted to use it for just the right challenges. Well, here we are. My card for today. Enjoy!

Lots of white space and some colors highlight the dimension of the feather.
This beautiful feather goes so nicely with CAS Colours & Sketches.
I used colors only in the boxes provided by the sketch requirements.
An illustration of using layers as a form of defining space.

I thought about this design long and hard. My dilemma, is this considered CAS or not? But, the more I thought about it the more I thought, yes, it is CAS. So, let's push the limits. Here is my argument... The design is mostly white space with splashes of color and it can be recreated lickity-split. My thought, of course, were the layers. The layers are part of the CAS design by using shadow and texture to define space and not exemplifying the layers. If anything I think all the white makes it look cohesive and as one, hence CAS design. It is a simple clean design where the layers are used with CAS in mind.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. I hope you all have a fantastic day and lots of good crafting vibes headed your way.

Never Alone

Hello Everyone,

I have the pleasure to be a guest designer at Time Out Challenges. I was touched, surprised, and humbled to be asked by such a fantastic group. I am also happy to announce their theme for this fortnight is 'encouraging'! I believe you can't have too many of these encouraging cards in your stash. So, without further ado here is my card today, enjoy!

With the exception of the heart, ribbon and its flower embellishment this entire card is completely digital and one layer. However, I do have to say the background flowers and leaves were hand-colored.

Photoshop Elements does a fantastic job when designing digital cards! All I did for the sentiment strip was blocked a portion of the background and set the flowers to be a white silhouette. Then I added a layer for the sentiment and one for highlighting 'never'.  I honestly do recommend photo editing software. It takes your digital stamps and makes them so versatile and you can manipulate in ways you could never do with traditional stamps.
Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend it with me. Also, I want to thank my hosts, Time Out Challenges for this gracious honor! I do hope you join their challenge. For me, it was great fun and I am sure it will be for you as well. Thank you all and I hope you have a fantastic day with lots of good crafting vibes headed your way.

Peaceful Candle

Hello All,

For today I am entering challenges from Inkspirational. Here is my card for today. Enjoy!

This card is so peaceful during a season that can be awfully hectic.
Lots of layers and, although not intrusive, the piercing provides a subtle frame for the lantern.
It becomes an essential part of the design.
Another look at the piercing framing the beautiful lantern.
I added black strips to the back of the piercing.
This way they wouldn't be so lost on the card and be more visible.
I die cut the sentiment from glittery foam with adhesive back. I just placed it on the layers of holly which were diecut from various shades of green PP.
