Celebrate!

Hello Everyone,

Today I will be playing along with Watercooler Wednesday and CAS(E) this Sketch. The U.S. just celebrated our Independence Day and thought this card would be appropriate. I left the sentiment ambiguous so I could be used for either a birthday, holiday party (well, not yet anyway), or anytime card. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The background of fireworks was created about two months ago. I wanted to play around with foil and enjoyed how it turned out. This is the image that inspired the subject of the card. The Statue of Liberty is from Stamppeddler. It is part of a larger image but I liked the shading (as I do with all their products) and thought cutting out the statue would give the illusion of the fireworks reflecting on the statue.

This card seems easy and it probably would have been but I wanted to get the sketch exact. I brought it into Photoshop Elements, cropped it to size, and printed it out. I then cut the sketch out and traced it on my CS and cut it out- creating a window.

The red swish was originally white CS but it looked stark with no personality. I carefully added some liquid glue on the strip and added red glitter. I thought it gave the design pop. It also made my decision on the sentiment color.

Every Moment

Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Freshly Made Sketches and Time Out Challenges. I thought of this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and instantly thought of an hourglass and times gone by. So, here is my card for today, enjoy!

This card is all about masking. I masked the different areas to create the 'x' shape. The clock area was sponged using DI in Ground Expresso. I then added the stencil with Stormy Sky and Tattered Rose. It created a nice 'patina' for the card.

If you look at the lettering in the background you will see it corresponds with the 'be happy' banner. The background says: 'every second, every minute, every hour, every day'.
The hourglass, heart sand, and sentiments are from a set of stamps called Sands of Time 2.

The hourglass is popped up using dimensional tape and fits perfectly on the card. I wanted to create some reflectivity, so I Googled 'shading hourglass' and came up with a pencil drawing to follow. It is certainly not as wonderful as the reference drawing but I thought it got the point across well enough.

Quilt Twist and Fold

Hello All,

For today I am playing along with The Paper Players and Color Throwdown. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This twist and fold is fast, easy, and comes with a surprise. It reminds me of an explosion card but I like the twist of this version. If you want the tutorial click here. 

The flowers and sentiment are placed together when the card is closed but, as you see below, when opened they are on the corners. Perfectly balanced.

Special Artsy Card

For today I playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch and Just Us Girls challenge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I just love the rainbow with the color black. Using the stamped images in black only makes it pop even more. The rainbow is the perfect backdrop for the card.

It is hard to see but the secondary sentiment is on a printed light gray linen patterned digital paper. I simply just printed it off and added the rainbow stripe to the panel.

I used the original square panel (below) and copied it multiple times to create the rainbow diamond pattern and added the sentiment. I then positioned it diagonally and printed them out. I then took out my stamps and used art images to complete the stripe.

Just Us Girls: Challenge #543- Word Week: Rainbow

This card is particularly special. Why? My daughter created the rainbow stripes about eight years ago, she was six years old. I promised to create a card out of her art but it went 'to the land of good intentions' or I forgot all about it. Until, when sifting through my digital images I ran across this and remembered my promise. So here I am!

Joyful Sunflowers

Hello Everyone!

For today I playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch challenge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

These flowers are a Digi stamp from Power Poppy stamps (link here)
The background is the same flower grayed out to 20% and set behind on a separate layer. The dark or colored flowers were set at different sizes and orientations for a variant look. The sunflowers were colored using Fabar Castell polychromos pencils.

I thought I would look at the CAS(E) sketch a bit differently. The colored section fits the diagonal angle of the sketch. Plus, the sentiment oriented at the same angle.

I built up the sentiment for dimension. It consists of four layers of white and one layer of black.

For today I playing along with Creative Knockouts and Double D Challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This card was stamped using the Concord & 9th Crafty Turnabout stamp bundle (link here).
It took a bit getting used to but when did it was so much fun!!

The sentiment was colored using the same color scheme as the background. I decided to split the background because I wanted an A2 sized card. I think the sentiment is perfectly placed between the background split. It seems to create a banner for our sentiment.

The needle and thread are a nice touch for the background and sentiment. It is crafty, artsy, and appropriate.
