Shades

 Hello All,

Today I will be combining Color Throwdown with CASology. The challenges fit well together and so, here is my card for today, enjoy!

I think the outdoors changes a person. I guess I speak from my own experience when hiking the Adirondacks. It was a hard journey climbing that mountain but I had one goal in mind, to see the view at the top. That was all I could think to keep me going. Then it all changed when I got to the summit. All could think was I did it. There were times I didn't think I could but I did.
Because of you, I am me.
And oh the view! Well, it was a cloudy day and our view was socked in with clouds. In the end, it didn't matter at all. I climbed the 6th highest peak of the Adirondacks!

A pair of aviator sunglasses reflecting a view of the mountains.
It is a beautiful sight to see.

Simply gold embossed the rims of the glasses.
Stamped the scene and colored it in with Prismacolor pencils.

Autumnal Leaves

Hello All,

I am playing along with Retro Rubber
and Addicted to CAS Card Challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

A simple one-layer card features a tree at its best, Autumn.

The tree's leaves were stamped using Red Barn, Honey Mustard, and Forest Moss Oxide Inks.

The trunk of this tree was sloppily colored using dark, medium, and light warm grays This allows the kraft paper to show through and offer other color striations of a birch tree.

Challenges Entered:
I have had this I'm my stash for at least 1 year.

I choose: Thanks/Foliage/Sponging

Bloody City Sky

Hello All,
For today I will be playing along with The Paper Players. Their theme this week is '
spooky' and, I believe, this card takes this term to heart. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The background was done using watered-down red acrylic paint on black cardstock. This panel is part of a larger piece of cardstock.

I used the same black cardstock from the background to create the city scene. I used some dimensional tape to pop-up some skyline. This way it didn't seem so flat.

This was the last piece of the card. Simple right? All I had to do was rub the decal on the cardstock. I pulled up the decal and said some explicit words. But then I looked at it again and loved it!!! It is rough and broken and in tatters. Perfect for a spooky Halloween card.

Sugar Skull

Hello All,
For today I will be playing along with Just Us Girls, Addicted to Stamps and More!, and Cupcake Inspirations. I decided to go with Sugar Skulls for the Halloween challenge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This sugar skull die has a ton of tiny leaves, flowers, and sprigs. Seems daunting at first but then (like a lot of you) got inspiration from Jennifer McGuire. Instead of die-cutting each element a different color you should die cut everything all at once white and then color the pieces. Still a bit tedious but much faster than die-cutting each die a different color. I used washi tape to hold all the little pieces together and die-cut them together. Genius!!
Click on the link HERE to view her video showing ways to use your little die-cuts

Bright and vibrant colors are typical for sugar skull design.

Lots and lots of layers showing the crown of the sugar skull. Also, notice the holographic paper in the backdrop. That was a failed attempt to foil a negative space image on black CS. I still liked how it turned out and decided to use it for this project.

Challenges Entered:
Cupcake Inspirations: Challenge #529- ATG
Just Us Girls: #604 - Word WeekAddicted to Stamps and More!: Challenge #415 - Die Cuts and/or Stencils

Halloween is a very interesting holiday. It is the only day of the year where you can dress up as silly as you'd like; go door-to-door and ask for candy. Any other time of year it would be criminal. Strange!

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes are headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Sunny Night

Hello All,

Today I am playing along with Freshly Made Sketches. My last entry for this post was rushed, yes, but I wanted to enter before picking up the kiddos from school. So, here is the updated post and a better version of my card, enjoy!

Sunflower lit up by the full harvest moon, the last full moon of Summer, or the first full moon of Autumn. The leaves are also falling in its light. Like Autumn, this card is full of texture. The embossed wooden texture is a great example.

The sunflower is started off as standard yellow cardstock. It needed more so I added HA metallic inks in reds, gold, and bronze. It fit the bill perfectly! I also did the same with the leaves.

The shimmer from the metallic inks looks so rich. I distressed the leaves with a bit of gold. The sentiment was done using a foil machine. The gold embossing brings the entire card together.

Mixtape Especially for You

 Hello All,

I am here again to share another card I made with a retro feel for INKspirational. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Remember mixtapes? Oh, I do! I always hated when the DJ talked during the first few seconds of a song you are recording from the radio. The pain is real folks and is something the children of today will never experience.

Half of the sentiment came from a 12x12 paper pad full of retro images and sayings. The second half 'especailly for you' was stamped and heat embossed. I also found some patterned paper with skates! So I cut out a ton of skates and placed them on the dark brown raised border.

Heart brads are shown a bit of an embellishment on this mini slimline.

Challenges Entered:

INKspirational: Week 248- Word prompt: Retro

Retro Skating

 Hello All,

For today I am playing along with INKspirational. Their prompt inspired me to look to the past and reminisce on my childhood favorite activity, rolling skating. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I actually have a scar on the bottom of my right foot from excess roller skating. I remember having so much fun and it is hard to believe it is now a 'retro' style. UGH.

I bought a paper pad that featured all things 80's. Everything from mixtapes, drive-in movie theaters, and, yes, roller skates. I found within the packet patterned paper with tons of roller skates. I cut each one individually and placed them on the striped horizontal lines.

The holographic cardstock is outlined in brown.
