Purple and Green

Hello All,

Today I am writing in behalf of Brown Sugar Challenge Blog and the theme this week are two colors I usually don't put together very often; purple and green. However, what a wonderful time of year to use them right? Well here is my card.

Lots of eyeballs looking your way!
They all made for a wonderful Halloween card.
Challenge for this week:
Purple and Green
The sponsor this week is
Brown Sugar Challenge Blog!
The winner will get a $6.00 voucher to ANY digi store they desire.
This card has tons of dimension along with a lot of fun..
The chevron using double sided paper and just folding the
corners allowed for this unique texture.
The prize to ANY digi store is pretty sweet (no pun intended) and I hope you come on over and join us at Brown Sugar Challenge Blog. Looking forward to what you come up with... Take care and see you there.

All the best,
Shawna

Runway H2Ocolor Card

Hello Readers,

For this evening I am playing along with Runway Inspired Challenge and wow do they have a beautiful and inspirational photo featuring a design from Emilio de la Morena . I had an opportunity to check out his website and see more of his work; if you have a moment check it out such pretty collections. Here is my card for today! Enjoy!!

Watercolor just seemed like the natural medium to use. Soft flowing color
with an emphasis on blue.

Entering Challenge:
Runway Inspired Challenge RIC#93

The sentiment color was taken from her shoes but it seemed a bit stark to use only black..
Adding the white shadow lightens up the sentiment and matches nicely with the rest of the design.
I honestly didn't think this card was going to turn out. I guess you don't know until you try, right? I die cut the 'waves' on heavy CS then spray mounted it on the H2O paper and went to work hoping it would not bleed through between the lines. And behold success!!

Even though our model doesn't have a lick of white on her she is surrounded by a ton of white. I thought it needed to be reflected on the card. I think the white gives it an airy quality to the design. These colors were so fun to work with by using my Distress Markers and water it all flowed nicely but stayed put in their little compartments. Love it!!

I am done bombarding you this evening but I just got on a roll. Take care and thank you again for taking time out of your busy day to spend with me. Any comments you have will be appreciated. Thanks again and see you soon.

All the best,
Shawna

Ready...Set...Party?

Hello Readers,

For tonight I am going to be playing along with The Paper Players. This challenge put a smile on my face because the instant I saw I thought of a traffic light.. So I thought I would play off that theme and a bit of fun with it..

The font is from SU so are all the stamped images
around the word 'party'
Entering Challenge:
Color Challenge #266
The black border frames in the watercolor panel
beautifully.

The word 'party' was done by hand. A complete
contrast from the block letters above.
Isn't this card fun? Full of vivid color and life!! This would make a great birthday card for a tween (maybe for my daughter) with all the groovy stamped and hand written embellishments around the word 'party'.  I applied the watercolor by picking up the color with an acetate sheet and applied the color directly onto the paper (I forgot the name of the technique); dried the card and applied again..

Go Dogs Go by P.D. Eastman reminds me of this card because of the stoplight theme and at the end of the book they all go to a dog party! Now how fun is that!

Image result for go dogs go book
Well that should do it for me.. I hope you enjoyed your visit and please leave a comment if you are so inspired to do so.. They make my day a bit brighter. Take care and we will see you soon at TheGrandStampede.

CAS Poinsettia Card

Hello Everyone!!

For today I am playing along with Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge. The cue word for this month is poinsettia.

Entering Challenge:
Happy Little Christmas Challenge
October: Poinsettia

This delicious ornament was painted using Perfect Pearls
for a bit of shine.
The poinsettia was stamped twice then fussy cut and
sprayed with Perfect Pearls and water.
This ornament stamp was generously given to me by BozenA from ArtCardBox. If you haven't seen her work yet then you should. She is an extremely talented and gifted artist.

Heat embossing the image allowed me to paint with Perfect Pearls. Such a beautiful bit of shine that can only be seen in the light? In trying to keep the card CAS I considered minimal color; gold and red. This allows the poinsettia to be the star of the show. More dramatically, it has been popped off the card by paper piecing and dimensional tape. This is also a very intricate stamp that needed a simple backdrop so I added a sense of space by stamping a pine branch and a very simple, yet interesting looking, sentiment.

That should do it for me I hope you enjoyed your stay with me here at TheGrandStampede. Please feel free to leave a comment; I really enjoy reading your comments. Thank you so much and we will see soon with another creation.

All the best,
Shawna

By the Sea

Hello Readers,

For today I am playing along with Paper Craft Crew Challenge and Create with Connie and Mary. The inspiration that came from these two incredible challenges were thought provoking and didn't turn out the way I thought.. It turned out better! Enjoy!

The sky and interior of the room follows the color challenge
from Create with Connie and Mary.
The flowers are thought to be sent for the recipient.
Entering the following challenges:

CCMC376  PCCCS 161-204-002

The sea theme is consistant throughout the card.
Lost Lagoon was used in the sea stars and ocean.
The sky is kind of dark with a white horizon line that melts into
Lost Lagoon is so pretty and true.
I can actually smell the sea looking at this card.. You can imagine some clouds coming in but some of the sunshine is lighting up the horizon white. I used my Lost Lagoon ink pad and an aqua pen to create the ocean scene; and finished it off using a white gel pen for detail. As I didn't have Perfect Plum or Tip Top Taupe I tried to match them with what I had on hand.

Well that should do it for me.. I hope you enjoyed your stay and want to thank you so much for spending time with TheGrandStampede.. Please leave any comments you would like good, great, or otherwise.. Thank you again and we will see you soon!

All the best,

Pastel Card

Hello All!

For today I am playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch and Color Throwdown. Both blogs were very influential and a wealth of inspiration.. Here is my card. Enjoy!

HUG just for you!
Entering the following challenges:
Color Throwdown: ctd363
CAS(E) this Sketch: CTS #144

Used the ombre effect for 'hug' by using
paint chips and die cutting the letters.

This weekend we finally finished our kitchen.. By finished I mean we (me and my husband) got done with the painting portion of the remodel.. Just for a bit of perspective our contractor was done with demo, install, and finishes in 10 days.. For us prepping, patching, priming, and finally painting took 21 days.. Well not really weekends were the only time we had to work on it so let's whittle that down 4 weekends so 12 days.. Hummm doesn't sound so bad when you look at this way... Anyway when all is said and done, it is a beautiful kitchen..

So I am at our local paint store and I'm biding my time for the long awaited paint color. So of course I looked at paint chips and had my inspiration! So hopped on the Color Throwdown blog and grabbed the challenge color chips and here is the card... I really do like the way it turned out..

That should do it for me. It is time to go shoe shopping for my son in preparations for a long winter. Leave a comment if you'd like; I would love to hear what you have to say. Take care and have a great day everyone and we will see you soon.

All the Best,
Shawna

Orange and Black

Hello everyone!!

For today I am posting in behalf of Make My Monday Challenge Blog.. For this week the challenge will be the colors 'Orange and Black'.. It can be anything not just Halloween like my DT card.. Here it is! I hope you like it!

Here is a side view of the card showing the multi layers
of dimension I added to the butterfly.

Hop on over and link up with us!
Share your creativity with us!
The front of the card you can make out the outline of the butterfly.
If you look closely you can see the sentiment.
Close up detail of the butterfly. The white is a crayon that was heated using my heat gun.
You should try this you get an amazing result.
This card is very simple in its design but the colors make it so impactful and full of life. It was easy to make and easy to assemble.. I wanted the sentiment to be very understated so all I did was use VersaMark ink and clear embossing powder to give it a bit of pop.. In real life it shows up a lot more..

Well that is all for tonight!! Come on over and link up with us at Make My Monday challenge blog.. Looking forward to see what you create.. Thank you for taking time out of your day to spend with me.. Take care all and see you soon.

All the best,
Shawna
