These ornaments reminded me of the vintage diorama ornaments from the 1950's. My mother had a ton of them and always remember imagining going inside the ornament. Below you will see an ornament similar to the one remember growing up.

Here at home we are having a heatwave. This heatwave consists of heat and humidity with a heat index of over 100! For some, this is just another day, but for me all I have to say: 'It is hot, hot, hot!' This card couldn't be more perfect for this time of year.

Eat Your Veg!

Red, Blue, and...

Hello Readers,

I am writing to you today on behalf of The Male Room to let you know we have another challenge for you to try. But before I reveal the challenge here is my card for today, enjoy!

To me, there is nothing prettier than lots of kayaks lumped together
by the river with its occupants taking in nature.

Challenge #40

The card was made by repetitively stamping the kayak on several sheets
of colored paper then fussy cutting around each kayak.
I shaded the kayaks just to add a bit of dimension.

This sentiment was designed by yours truly.
My inspiration came from a SU stamp set I couldn't afford,
so I made my own rendition of the image.

I had extra kayaks laying around so I decided to add
one to the inside of the card.

Some years back my boyfriend, now my husband, and I each purchased a kayak. We just graduated college and didn't have two pennies to rub together. We were both working at our first professional jobs and saved for quite awhile to buy the boats, life jackets, paddles, water shoes, tie downs for the car, etc. and the list went on and on. But this one time investment has led us through 17 years of enjoyment and adventures. I thought this would make an excellent Father's Day card for my hubby to remember our past adventures together.

Sentimental

Hello Readers,

It is Monday and that means another challenge at Make My Monday. Before I reveal the challenge here is my card for today, enjoy!

I used a techinque that I found at Creative with Monika.
Sponged Distress Ink then used water to remove the ink inside the flower.

The challenge for the next weeks:
Sentimental
Create a card with the sentiment as the focal point.

Lots of color and contrast. I used the vellum not to erase the
background but work with it. The sentiment takes at center stage.

Detail showing the this 'fabulous' stamp from SU (retired).
The three clear embellishments on top and bottom frames the sentiment nicely.

Christmas in July

Hello Readers,

For today we are celebrating Christmas in July at MHKDesigns! I will be featuring a partial release consisting of two stamp sets. Hop on over to the other DT's blogs and see what sets they have decided to feature. So without further ado, here is my card for today, enjoy!

I know I called the above focal point 'an image' but in fact
they are many images from two stamp sets. Candy canes and sentiment came from the Candy Canes and Crackers stamp set and the stocking came from the Deck the Halls set. Combining them creates a very pretty and festive card. 

Keeping it simple with MHKDesigns striped printable paper from the Stars & Stripes paper pack.
The image and sentiment look so nice against the white backdrop.

Trimming the tree card.. Very simple and so pretty. Printed the layout then colored the sentiment, tree, and candy canes. Also did some highlighting with colored pencils. I left a thin white border around the card to give it a bit more air to the card.

Hello Readers!

I am hoping not to bombard your inboxes with a lot of posts but I had to get this one out there because it closes fairly soon. So for today I am playing along with The Paper Players and CASology. Here is my card for today, enjoy.

Simple ombre chevron with an encouraging sentiment.

I painted the chevron using acrylic paint on black paper. 

The word 'difference' created a void of space that needed to be filled.
The 'y' in the 'you' sentiment
seems to fill that void nicely without distraction.

Catching up

Hello Readers!!

For today I am going to be playing along with ColourQ. Blue is my favorite color and thought this challenge would be perfect. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Flip cards are so much fun!
The red fish compliments the blues of the ocean scene.

Inside the card you will find a surprise fish that
was hidden behind the circle.

 I decided to darken the edges of the card by applying gray ink with an aqua brush.
This brings a bit of depth and contrast.

The marine plants background was an embossed resist technique.
I used Memento Ink in various colors, an acrylic block, and an aqua brush.

I made this card for my aunt who is now back in Michigan for the summer. She arrived home at the end of May and here we are in the middle of July, and I still haven't seen her! So I thought this card would be perfect to let her know I am thinking about her and we should really 'catch up'.
