For today I am playing along with Twofer Card Challenge using my choice of zoo animal, the zebra. I used the 'thanks' zebra card on this blog post but I thought since I am adding another card to the mix I would create another post. So without further ado, here is my card for today, enjoy!
First Card:
The sentiment is from PTI. I layered one black and three white die cuts for dimension. |
Second Card:
If you look at the other post using this card you will see I got my inspiration from Sketch Saturday. The idea to use rainbow colors came from Retro Rubber challenge. |
Twofer Card Challenge: Challenge #15- Zoo Animals
When I was thirty-six I suffered through a bit of a mental breakdown. So badly, in fact, that I was bedridden for a month and couldn't eat anything except for bananas and milk. Someone, I don't know who told me a story. This story came from.... well I don't know but I heard it when I needed it most. Here it goes.
A lion is hungry and wanted dinner. He spots a zebra to his left and a human to his right and starts running. Both creatures are now running from the lion and somehow, by the grace of God, gets away. The later reaction from both creatures couldn't have been more different. The zebra goes back to eating his grass with no thought of what just happened; he had only worked on instinct. The human, on the other hand, is worried, terrified, completely freaked out when this will happen again; he was working on thoughts of 'what if'.
During the time I heard that story I wanted to be the zebra. The fear and anxiety were paralyzing. But, now when I am freaking out I close my eyes and become the zebra, telling myself it is okay and to breathe. I wanted to start collecting zebra 'things' but decided not to because I like my mind's eye. I like my thinking smart brain for lots of things! But most of all I think 'thank goodness I am not a zebra!'.
Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. I hope you all have a fantastic day and lots of good crafting vibes headed your way.

Such an interesting story, Shawna, and two great zebra cards! That is a stunning running image and shows clearly that zebras are in the horse family! I think from now on I am going to color mine in rainbow colors like your striking thank you card! I also love the rainbow free-flowing watercolored background of your Just Because card and how you distressed the edge all the way around! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #15! Hugs, Darnell
Your cards and your story are all so inspiring! Thanks for sharing! That is a gorgeous zebra image, and you highlighted it beautifully on both of your cards. The bright watercolor background lends well to the lines around the zebra, and I love the small black border with the white outer border, like you said, too. Your spotlight coloring is fantastic and so dramatic on your zebra! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the twofer Card Challenge!
What a great story to help put life into perspective, Shawna ... it inspired such great cards! That zebra is awesome in both guises ... against the soft colour it has a fabulous sense of freedom and movement ... and spotlighted in all those vibrant stripes it's dramatic and bold and striking! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)
I admire your story and how strong you are. These cards are so terrific. Great backgrounds you created and coloring rainbow colors on the zebra is awesome.
