Go Yankees

Hello all,

I'm going to be playing with the paper players. My father-in-law is a huge Yankees fan and thought this would be a perfect opportunity to create a thank you card for him. Here's my car for today, enjoy!

I have these Yankee sticker strips for many years and quite frankly wanted them out of my stash. So I put the strips down on computer paper and cut out a city skyline. Perfect use of stuff.
I have tried a lot of different design options for this card.
I tried a sunset, strips of paper below the banner, etc.
I like how striping all of the other distractions created a beautiful and simple CAS card.
I did, however, add a die cut thank you which was layered up three times and then covered the word with glossy accents. Now it has a shine which really makes this card pop.

Abstract Roomscape

Hello Y'all,

For today I am going to be playing along with The Card Concept. The photo presented was crisp, clean, and oh so much fun! So, here is my card for today, enjoy!

Acrylic paint is what created the colorful stripes. I wish I could say my hand is so steady that I could paint such perfectly straight lines. I am going to have to admit I did this with help from a stencil.

I created an abstract roomscape for today's design. Simple black elements and sentiment reflect the style, feel, and clean inspiration from the photo.

Whimsical Books

Hello PINspirational Friends,

I am so happy to have you here today. We have a new challenge at PINspirational! But before I get to the challenge here is my card for today, enjoy!

This stamp is perfect for this challenge! However, I didn't think it had enough books so I masked off the top of the book and mug and stamp another set of books. This proved to be a bit tricky due to perspective.

I have seen washi tape being used for a partial border on CAS cards.
I just love the idea so I implemented it on my CAS card.

Well, thank you again for taking time out of your busy day to visit my corner of the internet. I do hope you will join us at (PIN)spirational and play along. Until then take care and we will see you soon!

Snap! A Hot Mess!

Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with The Male Room and Inkspirational. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I was online when I found a new, or I should say old, a technique called a
hot mess. It is when you make a messy background and then use a stencil to cover the entire card with a color. Peel off the stencil and you have your background showing through the negative stencil image.

An Apple a Day...

Hello Again!

School is now in full swing here in the U.S.A. So, I thought I would celebrate it by well.... making a card. I already need to make an apology card for my son's teacher and I thought this card would be perfect. I will also be playing along with AAA CardsCards in Envy and Addicted to CAS. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This layout took just a bit of planning.
I die cut the little apple shape first then the larger apple giving me the negative space I needed to stamp the apples on the inside panel. I lightly traced the die cut outline and started stamping the apples by opening up the card and finding the marks I left from tracing the die cut outlines.
I stamped the little apple first, masked that off and stamped the large apple.
This one layer card as a surprising amount of dimension.
One example is the embossed stitch marks at the edge of the card.
Just enough detail for interest and keeping your eye inside the card space.
The apples were colored using watercolor pencils, paintbrush, and a bit of water.
I kept the apple middle very basic and neutral. I did not want to convey a brown apple center.
 Challenges Entered:
Addicted to CAS: Challenge #144- Apples
AAA Cards: CAS Game #123- Sketch
Cards in Envy: The Fruits of your Labor

Retro Card

Hello Everyone,

So happy you could join me today. Today I am going to be playing along with AAA Cards, promise it is CAS and Just Us Girls. I have had this idea batting around my head for quite some time and now I thought it would be a perfect time to bring it to fruition. So without further ado here is my card for today, enjoy!

I researched retro colors to go with the retro-elements in the card.
Okay, I skimmed Pinterest and found a mid-century color scheme I liked.
A one layer card that is a bit 'out of the box' for AAA.
I thought of the sketch a bit differently.
I envisioned the circle as an area to put your design, not a circle.
A detail shot of the retro-elements.
The sentiment tucks perfectly under the design.
AAA Cards: CAS Game #123- Sketch

The stars have aligned in Blogland! A very strange coincidence I realized both challenges have consecutive numbers. You put the challenge numbers together and you get a string of consecutive numbers, 1-6!

I am kind of a numbers fanatic. I can memorize a set of numbers in seconds; phone numbers, pin numbers, and yes, given a pattern, I can even memorize credit card numbers. So be careful not to show your card for too long there might be someone like me gazing at your number.

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. I hope you all have a fantastic day and lots of good crafting vibes headed your way.
